Carp fishing in November. Where to fish and with what? Fishing for carp in autumn Temperature when carp stop biting in autumn

On many rivers and reservoirs, before the freeze-up, a predator becomes active, and a short, well-known spinning and trolling zhor begins, but feeder fans also remind that a similar leucorrhoea bite also happens after a long late-autumn weak bite, and there is a real opportunity to effectively close the feeder season.

The main difficulty of carp fishing with a feeder in late autumn is well known - even a small fish may not feed for a week or two, settling somewhere in snags, then fattens for a day, but it is difficult to predict this time, and you have to go out day after day, wait and believe, or just close the season until spring. But how can you close it when the intrigue of the pre-winter rush is in the air?! When, in the already stable frosty November weather, the carp goes literally to meter depths and actively feeds, at the same time getting hooked.

Quite often at such a time it is quiet, cloudless, atmospheric pressure rises slowly, and this is an ideal weather option for a possible bite. By the way, at this time, the carp most often feeds on fry that are sluggish in cold water, and it comes across from floaters hunting for perch with a fry rod, or from perch fishermen putting out short gum bottoms.

Although the activity of this bumpkin depends on the water temperature. And if we exclude those happy hours of the pre-winter zhor, then already in cold water he consumes less and less food, and moves infrequently, and even over short distances. Accordingly, the smaller the reservoir, the easier it is to calculate the fish, and here ponds come to the fore. If they are not partially lowered for the winter and not knocked out during the summer, then these are the best reservoirs for pre-winter carp fishing, although not very large, but fish within 2-3 kg is already very desirable in this cold.

It is very important how much there is in the pond other than carp, whitefish - crucian carp, roach, rudd, bleak. If there is a lot, then there is clearly not an overabundance of natural food in the reservoir, the fish still continue to feed more or less actively before freezing, and carp is no exception here, respectively, all white fish continue to respond to bait, and there are more chances for successful fishing. And when there are few small things, the value of bait drops to almost zero. And then the main question on the agenda is where exactly to fish?

I am glad that it is easier to calculate the pre-winter camp sites of carp than in the summer, when the fish moves much more, often changing feeding places. In cold November, this fish stays in typical places - snags, coastal trees and bushes that have fallen into the water, flooded boats, remains of thick algae, etc., at depths of 1.5 m. But not necessarily in the deepest hole of the pond, as many people think.

According to my observations, if a carp enters the area of a hole, it stays not in the hole itself, but along its dumps, especially if there are some shelters along them, such as snags or remnants of algae. Often good specimens were found in bays with a depth of about 1.5 m. The bottom, as a rule, is flat, muddy, often covered with fallen leaves - perhaps they attract fish. Or she is crowding here because of the silt, in which there are a lot of bloodworms, and this explanation seems more plausible.

If I fish exactly where a small carpet of fallen leaves has accumulated at the bottom, then I definitely use baits that float somewhere 5-8 cm above the bottom. Otherwise, the bait may get lost among the foliage, and it will be more difficult for the fish to detect it. But still, fishing by leaves is not entirely reliable. I noticed that at some point the fish begins to avoid certain areas, perhaps due to the fact that active decay processes begin at this bottom. It is possible that the leaves of specific tree species begin to rot in different ways, some quickly, others slowly.

In the pre-winter feeder rig, I try to avoid coarseness, although I don’t “thinner” too much, because the fish on the hook is not at all sluggish. Usually it is enough to reduce the hook size by a couple of numbers and slightly the diameter of the leader, leaving the “summer” main line.

Of the baits, various worms work best, the only pity is that they are partially eaten by small perch. And if the striped ones are too annoying, then I switch to plant baits. Even my favorite potatoes still work, I treat them with modern carp attractants, some of them, primarily “fish” ones, do not smell very pleasant to the human nose, but they allow you to quickly attract carp to the fishing point.

I use alcohol-based attractants that dissolve well in cold water. Interestingly, even in cold weather, carp can respond well to fruit aromas.

To feed in late autumn or not? For me there is no clear answer. If the fish is still barely feeding, then I feed it by filling the feeder with food, which contains significantly fewer large particles compared to summer. And when the carp is clearly settling, then instead of a feeder I’ll put a sinker, bait the hook with a worm and move along the shore, changing places quite often, because I don’t see the point in feeding the fish while fishing. Sometimes crucian carp is caught on the pond in the pre-winter period, but most of them are small.

Carp fishing in November

The third month of autumn, November, is pre-winter time: you can still fish in open water, but most fishermen are already preparing winter gear. Only predators are active; the rest of the fish gradually move to their wintering grounds. However, lovers of carp fishing do not give up trying to catch a trophy specimen, and they are doing the right thing: fishing for carp in November can give you the coveted trophy - a solid, weighty carp that has put on fat for the winter.

Where to catch carp in November

An important factor when fishing for carp in November is the fishing location itself. Since the carp already moves very little and is very careful. The search for a place must be taken very seriously so as not to be disappointed in fishing. At this time, carp are caught in small ponds where fishing is often paid, but you will be satisfied. Carp are also caught in ordinary ponds. For carp fishing in November, small reservoirs will be preferable, since carp do not disperse far in such reservoirs. Usually, in November, carp are caught at depth, or in snags. Carp are caught well where the banks abruptly go into the water. For successful carp fishing, it would be advisable to know the deepest places in the reservoir.

What to use to catch carp in November

You can successfully catch carp not only in summer, but also in autumn, and the biting time can last almost until winter. Let's look at what carp bite on in November, what bait and bait to choose to catch it. First, let's say a few words about the behavior of fish: naturally, as the water gets colder, its activity decreases. And by November, the carp becomes very lazy, practically does not swim in the water area and spends almost all the time in wintering pits. Therefore, you need to feed and catch it exactly in its resting places. Moreover, considering that fish at the end of autumn is already very capricious and picky about food.

  • Tackle for carp fishing in November

Fishing gear can be chosen at your discretion. In November, carp are caught both with a regular float rod and with a donk. Donka is used for long casts, closer to the wintering pits of carp. Well, they catch carp from the shore with a fishing rod, making short casts. Carp are rarely caught from a boat at this time, as they are very cautious and are easily spooked.

The most effective tackle for carp fishing in November is, of course, a feeder. This is not even negotiable. For excellent feeder equipment and successful carp fishing in November, we recommend the following components:

  • rod Mikado black draft 3.00;
  • fishing line 0.2 millimeters;
  • installation, asymmetrical loop;
  • leash 0.14 maver slr;
  • hook size 14.
In general, carp fishing in November using feeder gear looks like this. First we throw in 3-4 feeders of bait. And then we take a small feeder and throw in bait. We use worms and/or corn as bait. There is an unspoken rule among fishermen: What we feed is what we catch. You need to experiment with the bait, but in general both corn and worm are very good baits for catching carp in November. Feed should be added every forty minutes.
  • Bait for carp fishing

In November you can’t do without good bait. For carp fishing in November, store-bought baits with flavors are quite suitable. Please note that the smell of worms will be better for catching carp. It is important to use bait in moderation, trying not to overfeed the carp, but only to attract it.

So, the bait for carp in November should be:
  • voluminous - you need to spend 10-15 kg of it per day to attract already passive fish. In this case, you need to feed for several days in a row: generously the first time and less in subsequent times.
  • with a strong odor - in cold water, carp will only react to a rich aroma, so choose a scent that is persistent, but not too exotic. For example, add cinnamon or vanilla to your bait.
  • nutritious - at the end of autumn, lazy carp cannot be attracted by porridge alone - you need something more serious. Add animal ingredients to your bait; chopped earthworms or bloodworms would be an excellent option; maggots are also good.
These requirements were derived taking into account the behavior of carp in November and generally in late autumn. By following the requirements for preparing bait, you maintain a good chance of catching carp even in cold water.
  • Baits for carp fishing in November

The best baits for catching carp in November are worms and corn. On the worm, if the carp always goes well, especially now when the water has already cooled down and the trifle will not finish you. Moreover, in late autumn you should not rely only on plant baits. As an exception, only sandwich components can be used. For example, if carp has been successfully caught on corn all summer in this reservoir, you can put its grain on a hook along with a worm or bloodworm, but only as an additive. But in general, lazy fish will react more actively to animal baits.

Therefore, the most catchy bait for carp in November is:
  • earthworm - it wriggles on a hook, luring passive fish with its activity. An even more attractive option would be a bunch of several worms.
  • bloodworms or maggots - fish like them for their nutritional value and rich taste, so she readily reacts to them. To increase catchability, you can make a sandwich with both of these baits.
  • boilies are practically the only mixture with a large proportion of herbal ingredients that gives results in late autumn. The main thing is to make such balls, the composition of which will be attractive for carp in November, and we give the recipe for their preparation below.
Please note that we have presented the baits in random order, and not in ascending or descending order of their catchability. November carp can actively grab boilies and react rather sluggishly to a worm, or vice versa. Much depends on what food he has become accustomed to during the season. But speaking of boilies. Let's move on to making them.

How to prepare boilies for carp fishing in November

We present to you a catchy recipe for 1 kg of dough:

Take bird food and corn grits (or semolina) in a 1:1 ratio so that you get about 400 g, grind and mix. Add 5% (50 g each) of bone and fish meal and 40% (another 400 g) of soybean meal. Stir, pour in 10 eggs and 10 ml of vegetable oil. For flavor, add 5 teaspoons (total) of cumin, cinnamon and garlic. Continue stirring until a homogeneous dough forms and form into balls of appropriate size. Boil boilies in boiling water, cool and dry for several days.

The bait is ready - try catching it or choose a more animalistic option with a worm, bloodworm, or maggot. Now you know what carp bites on in November - so catch it, this is also quite possible in the fall.

Some carp anglers are looking forward to autumn; according to them, it is at this time that they come across fish. This is not surprising, because the fish had the whole summer to grow well. But the thing is that carp fishing in the fall is characterized by a couple of weeks of excellent bite, somewhat reminiscent of a real zhor.

Biting activity

The peak of biting activity occurs after the first frost. This is why carp fishing in October is so popular among carp anglers. This period lasts for 10-15 days, depending on weather conditions, and taking into account the fact that climatic conditions in different reservoirs differ, in fact, the autumn carp biting time is extended to a month in a specifically selected region.

Since the nights on the pond during this period are often frosty, daytime fishing, which is carried out throughout the daylight hours, will be more successful. However, if the weather is comfortable, then the night, and even with friends around the fire, can be a pleasant end to a fishing day.

Autumn carp camps

With the onset of autumn cooling, all natural food items of carp fish of animal origin tend to move to depth. There, the water is much warmer than the upper one, which is in contact with the frosty air. Therefore, carp fishing in October is often carried out in pits.

At this time, the summer thermocline disappears and the temperature in the water column changes according to the principle: the deeper, the higher. The water is also slightly warmer in places with aquatic vegetation, near snags, on the edges.

Good places for fishing are places on the borders of the bottom soil: silt with clay, or clay with shell rock. In such places, microorganisms that carp feed on are retained: mollusks, bloodworms, larvae, worms.

On sunny warm days, carp at midday can go to shallow waters warmed by the sun. At the last peak of his activity, he moves a lot around the reservoir and catching carp in November is a real hunt for him.

Features of autumn gear

Due to the fact that carp fishing in October is more often carried out at depth, and such places are far from the coast, the priority of using gear is shifted towards the bottoms. They continue to fish with float gear only in shallow coastal waters.

The leaders in carp fishing on an autumn pond are the following fishing rods:

  • medium and heavy class feeders;
  • Donks with inertia-free reels based on heavy Chinese spinning rods.

Due to the low mobility of simple donks and rubber bands, carp fishing is practically not carried out with them in October and November. By autumn, catching fish with a crust of bread in coastal thickets and at a distance with a water-filled float also loses relevance.

Snaps

  • hair installation;
  • Gardner loop;
  • paternoster;
  • asymmetrical and symmetrical loops;
  • helicopter;
  • inline.

It all depends on the angler’s preferences and fishing conditions. If you are fishing on a pond that, in addition to carp, is stocked with crucian carp, then it is better to install sensitive installations: paternoster, symmetrical or asymmetrical loops.

In “strong” places or when there is a possibility of catching a trophy specimen, less sensitive but durable ones are better suited: a carp hair rig with a self-release weight, a helicopter or an inline.

Despite the lower water and air temperatures, do not expect that the carp will be lethargic and offer little resistance when biting. There is no need to use thin fishing line even at this time. Monofilament, but braided cord is not used for carp fishing, should have a diameter of 0.23 to 0.30 millimeters. The use of a shock leader is also mandatory.

Don't neglect the shock leader when carp fishing. It will help you when fighting a strong opponent!

Select carp hooks according to the size of the bait, but with mandatory chemical or laser sharpening.

Autumn carp fishing tactics

Upon arrival at the pond, scan the bottom and determine the most promising fishing spots. The relief and structure of a reservoir can be determined using the following tools:

  1. . Now they produce models with separate elements: a sensor in the form of a float, and your smartphone serves as a monitor.
  2. Marker rod. It is equipped with a special float and weight; depth measurements and the structure of the bottom surface are determined by a series of fan casts.
  3. Jig measurement. To do this, they throw the load with a feeder and carry the load in a uniform step, constantly keeping count. As the time for falling decreases, the underwater rise occurs, and as the count increases, the depth also increases.

After identifying the treasured two or three points, they are fed. Carp fishing in autumn is carried out both in these places and between them. The fact is that the carp moves between various anomalies of the reservoir, “vacuuming” the bottom in search of food, and on this way it can meet the bait.

Lure

With cold weather, especially in November, carp prefers to eat high-protein foods and fill up quickly, so the basis of autumn bait should be, on the one hand, animal components, and on the other hand, large particles of food. The preparation of baits for float rods and bottom gear is based on this.

All autumn carp baits, regardless of the gear used, can be divided into two groups:

  1. Soils with the addition of animal components: worms, bloodworms, maggots, caddis flies.
  2. Large granules in the absence of binding dust components.

Such bait granules are those elements that are also used as bait. Feeding fishing points with large fractions of bait during autumn fishing is done in order to cut off small fish from the feeding spot. The amount of bait should be small so as not to saturate the fish ahead of time.

You need to be very careful when flavoring baits in cool water in the fall:

  1. Use only alcohol-based attractants; oil-based attractants do not dissolve well in cold water and float like sparkles to the surface of the water.
  2. Change the direction of the aromatics towards spicy and meaty smells.
  3. The concentration of flavorings in bait should be minimal.

Lures

When the water gets colder, carp are increasingly interested in animal baits, which come to the fore:

  • worms;
  • maggots;
  • bloodworm;
  • various sandwiches.

Remembering the saying that a big piece makes your mouth happy, you should make the bait as voluminous as possible: attach bunches of worms, balls of maggots, tassels of bloodworms.

When using boilies, it is better to take balls with a neutral taste, and then dip them in one of the following flavors:

  • crab meat;
  • worm;
  • maggot;
  • bloodworm;
  • shrimp;
  • blood;
  • garlic.

Traditional baits for carp fishing are also used to catch domestic carp in the fall, such as:

  • corn;
  • peas;
  • dough mixed with dill or anise;
  • black bread with melted cheese;
  • semolina with garlic.

Although open water fishing is still possible in November, most fishermen are already preparing their winter gear. Only predators are active at this time, while peaceful fish gradually move to wintering areas. However, lovers of carp fishing are doing the right thing by not giving up trying to catch a specimen: it is carp fishing in November that can give you the coveted, solid, weighty trophy.

Carp fishing spots in November

A very important factor when fishing for carp in November is the choice of fishing location, since the fish of the species in question are already very cautious and move little. Therefore, in order not to be disappointed in fishing, you should take the choice of fishing location very seriously.

Carp fishing in November is most effective on small ponds, mainly paid ones, although fishermen also settle on the banks of ordinary ponds. Small bodies of water are preferable in November due to the fact that there is no opportunity for fishing to “run wild” in them.

Often in November, carp are caught in snags or at depth. This fish is excellent when hooked and in areas where the shore abruptly goes into the water.

Carp fishing in November: what to fish for

Before considering what carp bite on in late autumn, it is worth saying a little about the behavior of this fish: as the water gets colder, its activity gradually decreases. And by November she becomes completely lazy, spends almost all her time near the wintering pits and almost never swims in the water area. Therefore, it is easy to come to the conclusion that you should feed and hunt carp in such places. And not forgetting that at the end of autumn the fish are extremely picky about food and capricious.

What gear can be used for effective November carp fishing?

You can safely choose the gear for carp fishing at the end of autumn at your own discretion. In late autumn, carp fishing can be done both with a bottom and a float rod. The first is used for long casts, near the wintering pits of fish. Well, the float is hunted from the shore, making short casts. Catching carp in November from a boat is extremely rare, since this fish is very careful and shy.

Of course, the feeder is most effective in carp fishing in November. You can successfully catch carp in November by equipping yourself with the following:

  • rod up to three meters long;
  • fishing line with a section thickness of 0.2 ml;
  • asymmetrical loop, installation;
  • leash with a diameter of 0.14 ml;
  • hook size No. 14.

Bait for carp fishing

Fishing for carp in November requires mandatory feeding of the fishing area. At this time, store-bought bait mixtures with flavors are perfect. Fishportal recommends that you pay special attention to baits with the smell of worms.

So, the basic requirements for baiting carp in November:

  • volume: you need to spend 10-15 kg of mixture per day to attract already passive carp. In this case, it is necessary to lure prey for several days in a row: on the first day, throw in plenty of bait, and on subsequent days - less;
  • strong odor: in cold water, fish of the species in question will only respond to a rich, but not exotic, aroma. For example, add vanilla or cinnamon to the mixture;
  • nutritional value: at the end of autumn it will not be possible to attract lazy carp with porridge alone - you need something more serious. Provide the bait with animal ingredients - chopped worms, bloodworms or maggots.

Baits for carp in late autumn

Fishing for carp in November is most effective when using worms or corn as bait. In late autumn, under no circumstances should you rely only on vegetable attachments; as a last resort, you can include such components in the so-called sandwich. For example, if the carp in your pond previously pecked well at corn, you can put the grain on the hook along with a bloodworm or a worm, but only as an additive.

In general, lazy carp in November will be more active in attacking animal baits, the most catchy of which are:

  • an earthworm or a bunch of them;
  • bloodworms or maggots, or a sandwich made from them;
  • boilies: perhaps the only mixture with a large part of plant components that can give excellent results in late autumn. The main thing is to prepare balls whose composition will be attractive to carp in November.

The universal recipe for this bait is the following:

  • Corn grits () and birdseed in equal proportions. The result should be approximately 400 grams of dry mixture, which then needs to be thoroughly crushed and mixed;
  • 50 g each of fish and bone;
  • 400 g soy flour;
  • 10 eggs;
  • 10 ml vegetable oil;
  • 5 teaspoons each of cumin, garlic and cinnamon.

Mix the ingredients until a homogeneous mass is formed, form balls of the desired size and cook them in boiling water for several minutes. We dry the boiled boilies for several days and confidently use them as bait.

Fishing for carp in November can bring some great results and we hope the tips above will help you with that.
