There are two types of routes, you can choose at your discretion:

• The Bangkok - Pattaya bus runs from two stations in the city - northern and eastern. The minibus leaves every half hour, the ticket price is 125 baht. Tourists prefer the eastern bus station, since buses run more often here, and there is a metro station nearby.
• The route from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya is the best option if you do not want to visit the Thai capital. The fleet consists of buses from different companies, and you can buy tickets right at the exit. The final route is Jomtien station.

By the way, depending on the carrier company, the bus schedule, as well as the ticket price, differs:

1. Airport Pattaya Bus – minibuses leave every hour from 7 am to 8 pm. You need to wait for them at exit 8; the trip takes 2 hours and costs 120 baht.
2. Bell Travel Service - this cab operator operates from 8 am to 6 pm, making 6 flights a day, but tourists are not taken to the station, but directly to the hotel, which is very convenient if you have heavy luggage. The ticket will cost 250 baht per person.

If immediately after arrival you plan to taste Thai life, it is recommended to take a ride on a Pattaya Van minibus. A ticket from the metro station will cost 92 baht, however, the comfort level of such transport is lower.

Railway connection

In fact, the train to Pattaya from Bangkok is not the most convenient way to travel, although for the price it will certainly please the most budget-conscious tourists. The train departs from Hua Lamphong Station only once a day – at 06:55. How long will the trip last? There is no way to know this in advance; on average, you will travel for about 3.5 hours, although delays on the line are not uncommon here.

There are two stops in Pattaya, but both are too far from the center, you will have to order a taxi or use public transport. But the cost turns out to be the lowest:

• You will spend 30 baht for a train ticket - they are sold only for the third class of a reduced level of comfort;
• A minibus taxi will cost 30 baht - public transport waiting for passengers right at the exit from the railway station.

When choosing how to get from Bangkok to Pattaya, you should skip the train if you are traveling with a small child or significant luggage - the trip will not leave the most pleasant impressions.

A taxi from Bangkok airport to Pattaya is the most convenient, but expensive way to travel. It is better to order a car at the official counter - right in the airport building, or through the website, so the price will be fixed and you will not be deceived. The cost of travel is about 1.5 thousand baht and depends on the class of car, level of comfort, and the number of kilometers that will have to be covered to your hotel.

You need to add another 60 baht to the price, since you will have to go through two toll sections along the route. A taxi to Bangkok from Pattaya costs the same amount, however, drivers do not always ask to pay the cost of the road - sometimes these costs are already included in the price of the trip.

By the way, you don’t have to order a taxi from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya from an official representative, but negotiate with the drivers yourself at the parking lot. There are a lot of cars at the exit, and taxi drivers offer the trip at a more tempting price. If you know how to bargain, you can get a good discount, although you will need knowledge of the language.

Transfer

If you buy a ready-made tour to the beaches of the resort, most likely, transfer from Bangkok airport directly to Pattaya will already be included in the price and provided by the hotel. This information should be clarified in advance so as not to overpay during the trip. Many hotels offer their own shuttle service to guests for free or for a small fee.

This type of trip is convenient because the car arrives immediately at the time of arrival, that is, you do not have to wait at the airport, although, of course, there are problems.

The cost of transfer to Bangkok airport depends on the type of car:

1. A micro machine is a budget option for two or three people. The trip will cost $50.
2. Economy - cars are equipped with air conditioning, luggage compartment, suitable for a company of 4 tourists. Such a transfer from Bangkok to Pattaya will also cost 50-60 dollars.
3. Comfort class - suitable for family travel and long trips - the price tag starts from $60.
4. Premium class - the choice of discerning travelers and those who arrived in the country on business, cost - from 400 dollars.
5. Minivans are recommended for tourists who come to the resort with huge luggage. Price – 70-90 dollars.

• In Bangkok, renting a car is not difficult - representative offices of companies are located at the airport information desks.

Pattaya is 150 kilometers away from Bangkok; you can get to the capital on your own using different types of transport. Buses, minivans, taxis and even trains run between cities. The journey takes from 1.5 to 3 hours. It all depends on the chosen mode of transport and traffic jams in Bangkok. I will tell you about the most basic ways to get from Pattaya to the Thai capital.

The bus service between Pattaya and Bangkok is excellent, which means traveling by public transport will not be difficult. The bulk of buses heading towards the capital leave from the Northern Bus Station. You can purchase tickets either online on the website or upon arrival at the bus station. The journey takes about 3 hours. Ticket price: 130-150 baht.

In Bangkok, buses arrive at the East, North or South Bus Station. There is a metro station next to the first one, which allows you to get to any corner of Bangkok. The disadvantage of traveling by bus is that they travel quite slowly and make endless stops along the way to pick up passengers.

Minivan

A minibus stop is located nearby. All minivans are air-conditioned. The first flight leaves at 6 a.m., the last at 7 p.m. The movement interval is approximately 30 minutes, but it all depends on occupancy. The advantage of traveling by this type of transport is that it travels without stops and does not collect additional passengers along the way, which significantly reduces travel time. You can buy a minivan ticket on the website.

Minivans take their passengers to Mo Chit bus station. A metro station is located a stone's throw away, allowing access to any part of Bangkok. Plus, the departure point from Pattaya is so convenient that it can be reached from all major airports, which cannot be said about the Northern Bus Station.

There are several other places in Pattaya where minivans depart towards the capital:

• South street. To find a stop, look for the Friendship store. Turn your back to him, cross the road and turn right. Walk a few meters to the Focus Color Lab photo studio. There is a table right next to it where you can buy tickets. Minivan stop there.
• On Volkin Street two stops - one near the Bali Hai pier, the second in front of Fah Pattaya Restaurant. There is another stop near the Petronas gas station, at the intersection of Central Street and Sukhumvit.

Train

Pattaya and Bangkok also have a train connection. All trains leave either from the central railway station or from Pattaya Thai station. I would like to immediately note that this type of transport is not in particular demand among local residents, much less among tourists. The price, of course, is quite affordable, but the travel time is at least 4 hours. Another drawback of the train is its external features. It looks far from ideal; air conditioning is out of the question; ventilation is provided by open windows.

On the way, the train stops a couple of times; it arrives in Bangkok at, which in turn is located away from the center of the capital. There is one flight daily from Pattaya, around 2 pm. If you add another 4 hours to the journey, you will arrive in Bangkok in the late afternoon. The average fare is only 40 baht, making the train the cheapest mode of transport. You can only buy tickets at the station itself.

Taxi

This is an excellent option for those who are used to moving in comfort and do not think about the financial side. Taxis in Pattaya can be found almost everywhere and every driver will gladly agree to take you to Bangkok.

If you need a taxi driver to pick you up from your hotel at an appointed time, you can use the website to order a car. There is a large selection of cars, there are both cars and minivans. A taxi takes about an hour to get to Bangkok.

When setting off, immediately agree with the driver where you need to be taken. The average cost of a trip is from 1,500 baht for a passenger car, the price for a minibus starts from 2,000 baht. Knowing the prices, do not forget to bargain, since most often the first declared price is an order of magnitude higher. If the driver is reluctant to make concessions, then you can try to look for another car.

How to get to Suvarnabhumi Airport?

You can get there directly from Pattaya either by taxi or by bus. The first option is quite popular and is described above. It is better to use it if your plane leaves at night or you are traveling with a child. The cost of a trip to the airport will be about 1,500 baht. Passenger cars take up to 3 people, travel time is one and a half hours.

Buses are a budget and also quite comfortable option. Flights to Suvarnabhumi depart from Pattaya North Bus Terminal. Departure times are at 6, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 hours.

In addition, buses leave from the South Station, the interval is 1 hour, the first flight departs at 7 am, the last at 21:00. The fare is up to 150 baht, including luggage.

If you use Bell Travel Services, you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the airport. The fare is 400 baht. The bus ride takes about 2 hours.

How to get to Don Muang Airport?

The most convenient way to get from Pattaya to is to use a direct minivan. Today there is only one carrier providing this service. Minibuses pick up their passengers at Pattaya Central Road, near its intersection with Sukhumvit. The first flight leaves at 5:30, the last at 19:30. The movement interval is about half an hour. The fare is 180 baht. Tickets for minivans are not sold in advance, so you need to purchase them before departure.

Please note that minivans do not enter the airport; they go to Rangsit and drop off passengers there. It takes a few minutes to walk to the terminal. You will have to drive for about 2.5 hours, sometimes it can be a little longer, depending on traffic jams in the capital.

Another good way is to take a regular bus to Suvarnabhumi Airport, and from there take a free shuttle bus to Don Mueang.

As we can see, there are more than enough ways to get from Pattaya to Bangkok. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages, and also differs in time and cost. Not only does the resort have direct connections with the main bus stations of the capital, but if you wish, you can always get to any airport in the city.

Visit Bangkok on your own or with a tour

If you have already been on a tour in Bangkok and you just want to do some shopping or visit some specific places that are not covered by the tour, then an independent trip to Bangkok is for you!

If you have never been to Bangkok, you want to see the sights, you don’t want to waste time looking for transport from one object to another, you don’t know what you want to see, then a tour to Bangkok is for you.

Often the price of an excursion will be approximately equal to the price of traveling on your own and visiting all the sites where you are being taken. For example, the price of lunch at the hotel Bayoke Sky approximately 800 baht, which is almost half the cost of the excursion.

How to get to Bangkok from Pattaya

There are three ways to travel to Bangkok:

Buses to Bangkok from Pattaya

If you decide to go to Bangkok by bus, then you need to get to the bus station, which is located on the northern street, it is called Roong Ruang.

The bus ticket office where you can buy a ticket will be on your left.

The ticket price depends on which bus station in Bangkok you want to go to.

Ticket price up to Ekamai – 113 baht, ticket price up to Morchit – 121 baht, Sai Tai - 113 baht. All tickets have a seat number. On the bus it is indicated on the back of the seat. For example, if you have seat N1, then you need to sit in the seat on which N1 is written, and not in the one in front of which you see N1.

Often people make a mistake and sit on the chair opposite which is N1.

After you have purchased your tickets, you can go to the waiting room and wait for your bus.

Buses start running from 4.30 am.

Bus schedule to Ekkamai station: first at 4:30 a.m., last at 10 p.m. (run every 30-40 minutes).

Minibuses (Minivan) to Bangkok from Pattaya

In addition to buses, you can also travel to Bangkok by minivan. A minivan is a small minibus with about 12 seats and travels faster.

Ticket price is 97 baht, travel time by minibus to Bangkok is approximately 1 hour 20 minutes.

Tickets can be bought at the stops where the minibus departs; I will mark these places on the map.

The first flight to Bangkok departs at 6:00, last flight at 20:00.

Minibuses depart every 15 minutes.

IMPORTANT! In Pattaya you can find other minivans that cost the same in the city, their price is about 120 baht.

All street travel agencies in Pattaya will be happy to offer you a tour to Bangkok for about 1,700 baht or 2,500 baht with the aquarium. I came across excellent instructions and decided to go on my own.

Pattaya - Bangkok

There are plenty of ways to get from Pattaya to Bangkok, including buses, taxis, trains, and probably even a plane from Utapao. But the cheapest and also the most convenient for me (because the stop is closest to others) is Pattayavan.com.

For just 97 baht and 2 - 2.5 hours you will be taken to the Victory Monument. The stop in Bangkok is 2 steps from the BTS Skytrain station of the same name. There are currently 4 stops in Pattaya (but it’s better to look on the website, sometimes they change).

The website states that minibuses run from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. But judging by the log of departures at the stop, they actually start running even earlier. Departure interval is every 15 minutes.

True, I managed to get into the nearest minibus only when it was raining. At any other time you have to wait about 20 minutes; due to the low price, there are enough people willing.

Don’t be surprised that they won’t take your money right away; 15-20 minutes after you start driving there will be a gas station, where the cash register is located.

Excursion route plan

I left Pattaya at about 8.20, and at some point I was afraid that I wouldn’t have time to get around everything, but I did. 🙂

My trip was a little different from this plan, but the map is very gorgeous. 🙂

Victory Monument - Wat Arun

We arrived in Bangkok, go up to the BTS station, buy a ticket for 35 baht to the station Saphan Taksin(money can be exchanged at the box office, as tickets are sold only for coins).

Along the way you will need to change trains at Siam station, just get out of the car and go to the other side of the station. It is better to travel in the first or last car - they have a better view of the street.

At Saphan Taksin we exit the first carriage to the left (exit 2, I think). And almost immediately we see the Chao Phraya River and the express boat pier. You can climb onto the bridge, but I didn’t see anything interesting there.

I sailed to the Tha Tien (Ta Dien) station, but as far as I understand, a ticket for the entire route costs 40 baht.

The queue at the pier was very long, but everyone got on the boat. I immediately went out onto the front deck and swam there. When we arrived, I noticed that only 6 people were allowed there. 🙂

Of course, there is a huge amount of garbage floating along the river, barges, dead fish... But it’s still great. 🙂

In front of the Tha Tien (Ta Dien) pier they even warned that it was time to get out. True in Thai. But by this moment, Wat Arun is already visible on the left bank, so even without warnings it is clear that it is time to leave.

From the water, Wat Arun seemed small, gray and nondescript.

It looks much more interesting if you get closer. And to do this, after leaving the speed boat, you need to take the ferry and swim to the other side for 3 baht.

Wat Pho

Having crossed the river, we pass through the area of ​​​​popular fast food (eateries and convenience stores), and find ourselves on a small street. To our right will be the famous Wat Pho monastery with a reclining Buddha.

The 100 baht ticket includes the opportunity to get a bottle of water. And she is not superfluous. 🙂

Wat Pho is a very nice and beautiful place. Many Buddha statues. There are a huge number of tourists somewhere:

Royal Palace and Wat Phra Kaew or Temple of the Emerald Buddha

But this, in my opinion, is the main tourist scam. At the entrance they even give you a whole brochure (about 6 different languages, no Russian) with a list of what you can see, but there’s nothing special to see. 🙂

The entrance to the palace territory is located directly opposite Wat Pho, but you need to walk around the entire territory. Along the way, you can return to the makashnitsa and have a little snack.

You can take appropriate clothing at the entrance. By the way, the palace is the only place where shorts are not allowed. I had to stand in line for about 15 minutes to get fashionable oversized pants. Clothes are provided free of charge. The deposit is 200 baht, but they don’t give change. You can leave 1000 baht for one thing - they will return the whole thing.

Immediately behind the golden stupa there is a colorful pavilion with mother-of-pearl doors. They are not allowed there - this is the Pramondop library. The oldest Thai Buddhist palm leaf texts are kept here.

To see the emerald Buddha under the ceiling of Wat Prakao, you should come with binoculars. It is also prohibited to take photographs inside the temple, only through the window outside.

Royal Palace.

Near the palace you can still watch the changing of the guard and take pictures with the soldiers. In my opinion, our servicemen treat this issue even on Red Square much more carefully - as a service. And here it is an attraction for tourists.

Khao San, Democracy Monument, Swing, Iron Temple, Fort

Along the large green square, which is called Sanam Luang, we go to Khaosan Street.

Khaosan itself did not impress me at all. The floor of Pattaya looks just like this stunted little street. We pass through Khaosan. We turn right at the end of the street and exit onto Ratchadamnoen Klang Avenue and turn left.

There will be a Democracy Monument ahead.

After going through the back streets, you can go inside and climb to the very top. You can leave a donation, you can go for free.

On the way to the Iron Monastery, the road goes along the white wall of the Mahakan Fort. So, having examined Wat Ratchanadd, you will need to go back and go around the fort on the right, passing through the bridge.

There was no good point from below to take a photo, so there was only a spire, the ascent to which was about 300 steps.

You can also leave money there and write something on the red material. But why, I don’t know. 🙂

Or you can knock on the gong, scaring away evil spirits and summoning good ones.

After leaving Wat Saket, and walking a little back to the river, the pier will be visible.

Tickets seem to be different depending on the distance of the trip. Since the conductor and I did not understand each other, I got a ticket for 12 baht.

In theory, this trip could be very interesting. In practice, passengers immediately raised the protective sides, and almost nothing was visible. 🙁

You can swim at least to the Chit Lom BTS station. I got off somewhere near the Pantip Plaza and Fashion Mall shopping centers. In order not to miss a stop, I drove with GPS. 🙂

Actually, there are options here. You can first go to the aquarium at Siam Paragon. It is open until 20.00, and there will be 2-3 hours to explore it. But feeding the animals runs from 11.30 to 13.30 and from 15.30 to 16.30 - I had no time for them. Therefore, we postponed the aquarium for another day and went to Baiyoke Sky.

Baiyoke Sky

The most famous observation deck in Bangkok, located on the 84th floor. It seems that you can buy a ticket at the very bottom, and there is some kind of separate elevator, but there is a queue for tickets and for the elevator.

I took the elevator without queuing to the Lobby on the 18th or 19th floor. I read somewhere that you can go up for free by finding an elevator somewhere around the corner to the 49th floor, and once exiting it, find the way higher.

But I only found a ticket office around the corner. 🙂

A ticket to the observation deck costs 300 baht. I didn’t find out about the prices for dinner, but judging by the reviews, about 800 baht.

And in my opinion, it’s worth taking dinner. Because in this case, you can go up to the observation deck, look at the City of Angels in the sunlight, have dinner while waiting for darkness, and look at Bangkok again in the light of neon lights.

And my ticket included only Welcome Drink: juices, soda, beer. And although the prices for pies on the 84th floor are very reasonable, I didn’t have the patience to wait until it got dark.

In general, from here you could return to Khaosan again to look at this street in the evening, or go to one of the huge shopping centers. Or maybe even head towards Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza... Decide for yourself. 🙂

Or maybe a package?

The total cost of an independent trip, if you take dinner at Baiyoke Sky, will be around 1,800 baht. So there is no gain in terms of cost. Moreover, the guide will at least tell you something.

But the package tour does not include the route from the palace to Baiyoke Sky, which allows you to see a little more sights, and at least a little of the city itself.

Stop between Second and South streets

This bus station is a good alternative to stopping near the ferry crossing. It is considered the cheapest of all the stations in the city, the ticket price is only 90 baht.
