How much money to take to the UAE? How much money do you need for a holiday in Sharjah? How much money to take to the emirates.

When going on vacation, we, of course, think and consider how much everything “will be.” But even after choosing a destination and purchasing trips, we think about unforeseen expenses, about future entertainment and, accordingly, how much it costs. Let's estimate how much spending money you need to travel to the UAE.

We will assume that 1 US dollar is equal to 3.67 dirhams.

Rest at the hotel

The hotel will help you save money. Basically, hotel services are already included in the package. If you plan to spend more time on the beach and swim in the pool, then you will only spend money on the beach bar: ordering juices, cocktails and water. The hotel offers paid laundry and spa services. Massage prices vary from 100 dirhams to 600. The price depends on the status of the hotel, the type of massage and the duration of the procedure. You will have to pay from 5 drkh (dirhams) per item at the laundry. Hairdresser services at the hotel cost 100 AED.

To come to the Emirates and not leave the hotel would be, at the very least, stupid.

Excursions and museums

The cost of excursions and museum visits varies greatly. An impressive ride in a hot air balloon or plane costs from 1000 AED to 2000 AED, and a trip on a dhow (fishing boat) will cost only 5 AED; a safari costs from 150 AED. For 120 AED you can visit the highest observation deck in the world.

Transport

When traveling through an unknown country, the question always arises, what is the best transport to choose? A pre-purchased excursion already includes transportation, but what if you want to do it yourself? You can rent a car, take a taxi, or travel by Dubai metro and bus.

A one-way bus ride will cost 5 AED, the peculiarity is that bus routes are not available everywhere (mainly in Dubai). To get to other emirates you need to purchase tickets at bus stations.

You can get to the bus station by taxi. The cost of landing is 3.5 AED during the day, at night, after 22.00 - 4.5 AED and then 25 fils (0.25 AED) is added every 125 meters. Landing from the airport is much more expensive. In general, a taxi is a very expensive form of transportation, for example, you need to get to Dubai from another emirate by taxi, and when crossing the border, 20 drx is automatically added to the meter.

But, within Dubai, you can use the metro to travel. The cost of a round-trip ticket is 10 AED; if you travel across the boundaries of conventional urban areas, then the price increases. Higher ticket prices in VIP carriages as well.

If you are planning to rent a car, then remember that you must take a driver's license. The cost of renting a car per day starts from 80 AED and you can rent a car at rent-a-car. The price of gasoline at gas stations is the same - 1.6 AED per liter.

Entertainment

You can entertain yourself not only with excursion trips, but also with a variety of active recreation. For 25-50 AED you can go ice skating, skiing with equipment and ski rental for 300 AED, billiards and bowling for 30 AED per lane. Having fun in a nightclub for men will cost 150 AED, and admission for women is free. You can go diving and sea fishing for 200 AED. The price of a ticket to the water park for adults and children, height from 125 cm, is possible for 85 AED. As you can see, a holiday in Dubai is not just a beach holiday, but also all kinds of entertainment.

Food

There is no need to skimp on food, such as buns and kefir. The Emirates offers cuisine from almost all over the world and at very affordable prices. For a regular lunch you will pay only 30 AED.

Also, most restaurants offer a buffet at lunchtime. The price of such a lunch ranges from 25 drkh to 70 drkh, and for real Arabic coffee and oriental sweets you will pay 15 drkh.

Electronics

You plan to buy electronics in the near future, then buy them in the UAE. The prices will pleasantly surprise you, especially the cost of cell phones and computer equipment. The prices are much lower than everywhere else and you don’t have to worry that the equipment doesn’t have a Russian language. The operating systems on all computers are multilingual and you can choose what you need. Most cell phones already have the Russian language installed; if there is no Russian language, the device will be flashed immediately.

Shopping

Shopping in the Emirates is a pleasure and an opportunity to replenish your wardrobe. The prices are very reasonable, and there is a choice of products and stores for every color and taste. For example, you can buy branded items that are sold in the Outlet Mall with a 50% discount all year round. All products in the Ted Lapidus and Pierre Cardin stores are not defective and exclusive, although it is written that there is a 75% discount.

The cost of souvenirs knows no bounds, but the price starts from 2 drx.

It is not easy to name a certain amount that you need to take with you for a trip to the Emirates, since everyone has their own plans and preferences.

When planning a vacation, we of course ask ourselves questions about where and how much it will cost us. But even having decided on the direction and taken the vouchers, the question remains how much money on top of all this we need to take with us. Let's calculate how much money you need to take when going to the UAE.

Rest at the hotel

The most economical, in terms of extra costs, is, of course, making the most of your hotel. If you plan to devote yourself entirely to the beach and pools, then your expenses will be limited only to ordering cocktails, water, juices and other drinks at the beach bar, and if your hotel in the UAE includes a beach bar in the package, then you will be able to avoid such expenses. In 4 or more star hotels, most hotel services are already included in the package, with the exception of SPA and laundry services. The cost of a massage ranges from 100 to 600 Dirhams (AED) per session, depending on its type, duration and hotel itself. Laundry prices start at 5 AED per item, and if you decide to visit the hairdresser at the hotel, be prepared to pay at least 100 AED.

But you must admit that flying to a distant country and never leaving the hotel will be at least strange.

Prices for visiting excursions and museums vary greatly. You can take a ride on a traditional fishing boat (dhow) for 5 AED, a safari costs from 150 AED, but if you want to look at the UAE from a pleasure plane or a hot air balloon it will cost you from 1000 to 2000 AED. You can visit the highest observation deck in the world for 120 AED.

Transport

When planning to go somewhere in an unfamiliar country, we are faced with the question of how we can get there, or rather, with what? If you go on an excursion purchased at the hotel, then transport will be provided to your doorstep, but what if not? You can get to a point in the UAE by bus, taxi, metro in Dubai, or by rented car.

The price of a one-way bus ticket starts from 5 AED, the only inconvenience of the UAE is that buses do not run everywhere (most of all bus routes are Dubai), in other emirates you will have to go to bus stations to purchase a ticket.

You can get to them by taxi, boarding a taxi costs 3.5 AED during the day and 4.5 AED after 22.00 (boarding at airports is much more expensive), then for every 125 meters 25 fils are added (about 25 AED), by the way, if you are planning to take a taxi from any emirate to Dubai, but when crossing its border, the meter automatically adds 20 AED, so a taxi is a very expensive form of transport.

However, when moving around Dubai you can save money by using the metro; ticket prices start from 10 AED in two directions and increase if you cross the conventional boundaries of city districts; the cost of a Gold (VIP) metro car is also higher.

Taking your driver's license with you on vacation, you can rent a car at rent-a-car, the price of car rental on average starts from 80 AED per day, a liter of gasoline will cost 1.6 AED, for most cars you will need Special or E-Plus gasoline (E-Plus gasoline is a little cheaper, but is only available at one type of gas station, while Special is sold at all and the price is the same everywhere).

Entertainment

In addition to excursion holidays, the UAE offers vacationers a whole sea of various entertainment. All major shopping centers have cinemas, the cost of a movie show is from 20-50 AED. Play bowling or billiards from 30 AED per lane per hour. In some places you can go ice skating (25-50 AED per hour with skate rental), and at Sky Dubai you can go skiing (300 AED per hour with ski and equipment rental, unlimited time). If you want to dance in a nightclub, men will have to pay from 150 AED, and entry for girls in most of these places is free. The price for visiting the water park for adults and children from 125 cm starts from 85 AED per person, and the cost of sea fishing and diving starts from 200 AED.

In the UAE you can find dishes from all over the world at very affordable prices, so don’t rush to run out and buy a hamburger trying to save money it. A full hot lunch can be purchased for 30 dirhams, if you like shawarma and a bottle of laban (local kefir) as food, then in total it will be only 10 dirhams.

You can treat yourself to oriental sweets with real Arabic coffee for 15 AED. By the way, at lunchtime, many restaurants offer a buffet; prices range from 25 to 70 AED.

Electronics

If you are planning to get new electronics in the near future, then do it while visiting the UAE. Prices for electronics, especially cell phones, computer equipment and televisions are pleasantly lower and you don’t have to worry that electronics do not have a Russian language. All computers sold in the UAE have multilingual operating systems and you can choose the one that suits you, much the same with cell phones; on many phones the Russian language is already installed, but if not, the device can be flashed.

Shopping

The UAE is a great place to update your wardrobe. Firstly, a selection of shops and things, as they say, for every taste and color, and secondly, cheaper than at home. If it’s not important for you to buy things this season, then there is a whole store (Outlet Mall) where you can buy clothes and shoes from world famous brands with large (from 50%) discounts all year round. When buying clothes, men should pay attention to Ted Lapidus, Pierre Cardin and a number of other high-class stores, on the windows of which there is a sign of 75% discount all year round, just don’t be alarmed, all the things in such stores are original and not defective, but because Due to the tax peculiarities of the UAE, these brands have the opportunity to significantly reduce the selling price.

The cost of souvenirs starts from 2 AED, well, of course, there is no limit to the cost.

It is difficult to name a specific amount that is sufficient or necessary for a holiday in the UAE; it all depends on your personal preferences and your plans.

How much money to take to the UAE?

The relatively young state of the United Arab Emirates attracts tourists with its clean beaches, warm sea and well-developed infrastructure. It is generally accepted that holidays in the UAE are quite expensive, however, this misconception is easy to dispel. A short vacation in this country or a long stay can be affordable; the question of prices depends only on how prepared you are for your stay in the country. Many people lack useful information for correctly drawing up a travel budget. Therefore, the question of how much money to take in the UAE for 7, 10, 14 days is always relevant among tourists.

There is no upper threshold; if your funds are not limited, then the Emirates is just the country where you can spend money easily and tastefully. The stunningly beautiful entertainment and shopping centers are famous throughout the world. The assortment of shopping centers can surprise even the most experienced shopping lover; people here love beautiful things and know how to sell them.

The country provides its citizens with a very high standard of living thanks to oil fields, and they have developed certain traditions and taste preferences. For example, in few countries you will see such a number of luxury cars in normal daily city traffic. Luxury touches everything here. This is one of those unique properties that in its own way makes a holiday in the country unforgettable.

So, when going on holiday to the UAE, how much money should you take with you? What is your travel budget for the month? Let's try to understand the numbers.

All expenses can be divided into several categories, which makes it easier to create a budget and focus on it:

The exchange rate of the local currency, the dihram, against the dollar, has remained unchanged for many years and is 3.66 dihrams per 1 dollar. If you ask what money to take in the UAE, it is better to take dollars, which can be exchanged for local currency. For currency exchange, I recommend watching this video:

How much does it cost to live in the Emirates?

Many travelers choose to purchase a package tour, which involves paying for hotel accommodation, meals and transfers. Due to the fact that competition is very high, such offers increasingly have a very attractive price, which is practically unattainable if you plan your trip on your own.

The cost of staying at a hotel can range from $50 for last minute packages to several thousand dollars for a room in a luxury hotel. Accommodation for a week in a mid-price hotel will cost about $1,500 ($215 * 7 days). Breakfast will be included in the room rate.

In addition to traditional hotel accommodation on a package deal, you can book your own apartments for the duration of your trip. Prices can also range from the same 50 dollars (but breakfast is no longer included in the price) to several thousand dollars for a villa or townhouse. For 50 dollars, it will most likely be a room in an apartment, and quite far from the metro, at least a 20-minute walk. The owner of the room often claims that there is a bus stop nearby, but do not have any illusions about this. You are more likely to either walk to the metro or use a taxi.

The cost of a decent apartment of 100 square meters with a kitchen and all necessary household appliances will be approximately 2500-3000 dihrams for two adults per day. Moreover, such options are also often offered with the option of breakfast included in the price. Let’s take the average price category of apartments as a guide; the cost of a week’s stay will be $2,100 ($300 * 7 days).

We looked at the two most common accommodation options in the UAE, both of which assume the average price category of the offers as a guide. Costs for a week's stay range from $1,500 to $2,100. Accordingly, the cost of a longer stay, for example 14 days, will be $3,000 and $4,200. The price may be lower if we are talking about a longer rental period, then it makes sense to look for an apartment and discuss the possibility of a discount with the owner.

How much does food cost in the UAE?

The cost of food varies greatly depending on the area of residence. In Dubai Marina you will not find cheap eateries and cafes; the cost of a full meal can range from a minimum of $20 to $100 or more. At the same time, in other areas, you can dine at fast food for $1.50 or at the chain of cheap cafes “Golden Fork” (pictured), where a full meal will cost no more than $10.

If you rent an apartment and cook your own meals, your budget will be modest; food in supermarkets and markets is not expensive; the cost of the food basket will vary solely depending on your taste preferences.

The cost of meals on the all-inclusive system is naturally the most favorable, but often not the most convenient. It is doubtful that having arrived in a country with so much entertainment, you will be constantly in the hotel waiting for breakfast/lunch/dinner. This is why bed and breakfast offers are the most popular among travelers. If you calculate the average cost of a food budget for 7 days for one person, then this amount will be approximately $300. Two weeks respectively - 600 dollars.

How much does transport cost?

Before calculating the cost of transport, you need to decide which type of transport you prefer. You can use public transport - bus and metro, you can use taxi services or rent a car. They are very different in cost, you need about 40-50 dollars for a taxi for a week, renting a car per day will cost about 40 dollars. When renting a car, you will be asked to leave a deposit, the amount depends on the specific brand of the chosen car ($500-1000).

The metro is the cheapest transport and quite convenient; the cost of a trip ranges from 2 to 7 dollars.

When buying a metro card, be prepared for the fact that the payment system is designed so that the amount for the trip will be withdrawn upon exit. When you enter the metro, information is read from the card, and at the exit you swipe the card again and the system calculates the total cost of your trip. If there are not enough funds on the card, you may simply not get out of the metro, so buy a card with a “reserve”. The average cost of transport services (metro, public transport and taxi) per week will be approximately $120.

What is the cost of entertainment there?

When calculating the cost of entertainment, we focus exclusively on the cost of excursions. The average price of one excursion is about $100, based on the fact that few people want to attend excursions every day, let’s take four excursions per week as the base amount for calculation, which will be $400

All other entertainment is very individual in nature, be it a visit to:

  • nightclubs
  • restaurants
  • entertainment centers

Taking this into account, it is difficult to predict their cost as an average value. Just add another 300 - 400 dollars per week to your budget, you will have something to spend it on.

Shopping expenses

The issue regarding the cost of shopping in the United Arab Emirates is very delicate. You can buy almost everything in the country, and the most attractive thing for tourists is that prices in shopping centers are much lower than, for example, the usually high Russian ones. Many tourists travel to the UAE specifically for the purpose of shopping. If we are just talking about buying souvenirs, count on $150, although this amount is very approximate; it all depends on your taste and preferences.

So, how much money to take to the Emirates? We tried to give you the answer to the question in average prices; of course, this is only a guideline. The final cost of your vacation depends on many parameters, including the level of comfort to which you are accustomed. Take an amount a little more than the preliminary calculation shows, the UAE is a country where spending money is very pleasant!

The initial data is as follows: our heroes are cheerful and sociable people (especially on vacation), so both of them like a polyphonic crowd of people. In addition, She has a sweet weakness for walks along elegant shop windows. He looks condescendingly at ladies’ things and is looking forward to the opportunity to wander around the eastern city and go on a safari to the real Arabian desert. Our heroes have a healthy appetite, also fueled by children's curiosity for unfamiliar dishes.

Usually our tourists go to Dubai (the capital of the emirate of the same name) - we will go there too. There is activity here almost all year round in numerous entertainment centers, restaurants and clubs. You can wander until you drop through the countless shopping arcades (from January 15 to February 15, Dubai hosts a “shopping festival” - a time of sales and festive fun), watch the sunset among the dunes, and, of course, swim in the warm sea.

A week-long tour for two to Dubai will cost an average of $900-950 (airfare, insurance, accommodation in a 4* hotel, meals - breakfast only). Let's try to calculate how much the pleasures that our travelers planned to receive will result in (in order to avoid misunderstandings, we clarify that the prices are averaged).

Restaurants

How convenient it is when only breakfast is paid for - tempting gastronomic prospects open up for inquisitive tourists. So, a hearty lunch or dinner for two in a Lebanese restaurant will cost $15-18. What can you get for this money? For example, two huge dishes of grilled meat, an impressive plate of fresh vegetable salad, freshly squeezed juices and flatbreads straight from the oven. Or there is this option: buffet - Iranian cuisine. Pay $13 for two and start eating: lamb, lula kebab, three types of pilaf, chicken and grilled meat, vegetable salads. If you resist the temptation to eat to your heart's content, you can choose dessert for an additional $3.

In restaurants specializing in seafood dishes, a feast with seafood soup, fried shrimp and grilled fish will cost the same amount. Also worthy of special attention is the “sea mix grill” ($10), a large portion of which includes a cape of shrimp, squid, fish, crab, lobster tail and side dish. Among the drinks, the most notable are freshly squeezed juices and whipped cocktails made from mango, papaya, kiwi, bananas and strawberries ($1.3). It is worth keeping in mind that in Dubai restaurants, tips are usually already included in the bill.

Total: about $280 for two.

Transport

The most convenient way to travel is by taxi. Sand-colored municipal taxis are equipped with meters. They charge a little less than $1 for landing and then $0.3 for each kilometer. In private taxis, the meter is successfully replaced by preliminary bargaining with the driver. A trip within the city costs from $1.5 to $3, between cities - about $15-30.

It's a good idea to rent a car. There are many companies providing similar services here. Car rental prices range from $25 to $45 per day. The final price depends (as in many other cases) on the impudence of the company representative and your confidence in your own rightness.

To rent a car you will need a passport, photographs and an international license.

Driving in the UAE is easy: the road surface is mostly good, and the traffic rules are not much different from ours. Our citizens are deeply touched by the already forgotten road solidarity, when several cars can stop at once near your stalled car.

Total: from $30 (for daily use of taxi services) to $150 (renting a car for several days) for two.

Since you still won’t be able to go on all the excursions in a week, it’s better to identify your priorities in advance. Everyone, without exception, is impressed by the fast-paced desert safari ($80-100 for two). Crazy jeep races and an amazingly beautiful sunset reconcile the safari participants with the somewhat dubious points of the program. For example, a plump belly dancer with an openly Slavic appearance instead of the declared “oriental beauty”.

Many people also enjoy such innocent entertainment as a ride on an Arabian boat. The panorama of Dubai from the boat is really very beautiful. An hour-long walk along the canal will cost $20-26 for two. It’s also worth visiting the Wild Wadi water park ($52-64 for the whole day) - mindlessly rafting down the “lazy” river, periodically overcoming waves and storming waterfalls, sliding (or taking off) down a slide or driving through a tunnel. For the most inseparable, there are fun circles for two.

A one-time scuba dive under the close supervision of an instructor will cost $120-140 for two. Moreover, a PADI certificate is not required for single dives.

Total: $270-320 for two, including the only free entertainment - a promenade through the evening city.

Shopping

What can you tell us about shopping in Dubai? Professionals don't need stories. Amateurs already have their own “trodden” routes. But for beginners entering this trail for the first time, the following information will be useful. You should not give in to the general rush (especially during the shopping festival) and buy everything. Knowledgeable people say that the best place to buy furs and gold is in Dubai. Prices for fur coats are comparable to Greek ones, but the quality is higher and the choice is really huge. As for jewelry, gold itself is not much cheaper than in our country. But diamonds and other precious stones really amaze with their cheapness. TV and video equipment in Dubai is cheaper than in our stores, on average by 10-30%.

Current information: it has been established that the stores in Nasr Square and City Center have the highest quality and inexpensive goods. It is also worth checking out the Gold Market.

Let's sum it up

Taking about $1000 with us, our married couple will be able to quietly taste exotic Arabic cuisine and take advantage of at least three excursions. And since the time has come for the shopping festival, the husband cannot escape - the wife will still go shopping. Although there are also husbands who are not indifferent to this activity. Especially when it comes to photos, videos and other coveted toys.

Public transport and taxis in Dubai are cheap.

If you are too lazy to understand the system of routes and travel cards, choose Taxi- for such a rich city it is cheap: a trip on average costs 10-20 dirhams. For a family or company, a taxi ride will cost even less than a bus or metro ride.

However, I still recommend that even the laziest people take a ride on the ultra-modern metro and trams at least once. Metro trains run without a driver and are controlled remotely. The stations are interesting and beautifully decorated. Also take a ride along Dubai Creek on national boats - abras. The fare costs only 1 dirham.

So, how much do public transport costs in Dubai?:

  • Taxi: boarding - 5 dirhams, kilometer - from 1.7.
  • Metro and tram: from 4 dirhams per trip, from 20 for a travel card.
  • Abras - from 1 dirham, water buses - from 2 dirhams.

From airport. Read our instructions. If you need a transfer, I advise you to book it in advance on a convenient service so as not to look for a taxi on the spot.
