Nasser Square, Dubai. Dubai map with landmarks

Many people come to the largest city of the UAE - Dubai: some to relax and get acquainted with the city, some for work purposes, and some for shopping. Those who come here for shopping, on a so-called shopping tour, should visit Nasser Square.

Nasser Square is a famous area in Dubai where a variety of shops, malls and markets are located. Many shopping streets and squares form a real labyrinth with many retail outlets, a variety of restaurants and cafes. Recently, the city authorities renamed this place Baniyas Square, but Russian-speaking tourists, out of habit, call it by the old name.

There are four markets in the block: Murshid Bazar, Naif, Wasl and Dyka Covered Market. Here you can find everything your heart desires: clothes and shoes, jewelry, haberdashery, fabrics, souvenirs, as well as household appliances and electronics. Local traders speak Russian at a decent level. Remember that each product here has a starting price, but you can always get a good discount. It is better to look for products of famous brands in boutiques of shopping centers.

In addition to all of the above, you can buy exotic vegetables and fruits in the markets. Rare types of spices and national dishes are in great demand among buyers.

Some tourists purposefully go to the shops in Nasser Square to buy fur coats, which are distinguished by their quality, variety of models and affordable prices. It is in this area and on the surrounding streets that there are 12 shopping centers and many shops where you can buy a fur coat from any fur: from rabbit to. The main recommendation is to buy fur coats only in branded stores, which can be viewed on official websites. Among the fur coat places worth visiting: Al Owais Business Tower, Abraj, Crystal Building, Landmark Plaza Hotel, Baniyas Building, Baniyas Tower, Deira Tower.

If you are not familiar with the shops of the Nasser Square quarter, then it will be enough to stop on the street and ask passers-by in Russian for the desired place or product. People who are called here by the Greek word “kamak” will immediately approach you. They will show you, guide you, answer questions, and then from the seller they will receive a certain percentage of your purchases. Accordingly, the purchase price will be increased by the seller by this “hidden” percentage for the help of “kamak”. If you find a competent guide, then you are lucky. Therefore, before you go shopping, study the location of the stores you need to go to.

On Nasser Square, next to shopping centers, there are modern hotels, office buildings and public recreational facilities: bars, discos, nightclubs. In the area of the Baniyas Square metro station there are several hotels of different levels of comfort, including: Hotel Riviera (4*), Carlton Tower Hotel (4*), Landmark Plaza Hotel (3*), Landmark Hotel (3*), Mayfair Hotel (3 *), Al Khaleej Hotel (3*), Phenicia Hotel (2*), Ramee International Hotel (2*), White Fort Hotel (1*).

How to get to Nasser Square in Dubai?

You can get to Nasser Square either by public transport (metro or bus) or by taxi. Special buses go there from certain hotels. If you take the metro, you need to get off at Baniyas Square station, which is on the green line.

After shopping in the shops and at the Nasser Square market in Dubai, you should relax and walk along the Deria Griq Bay, see the buildings of shopping centers and, of course, the Oasis, the tallest tower of the Burj Khalifa, as well as other interesting sights of the city.

It is not for nothing that Dubai is the most prestigious and attractive Emirate for tourists in the Middle East. It offers tourists from all over the world to plunge into the amazing and luxurious world of rich Arab culture and experience various types of recreation. There is an opportunity to relax not only in the hotel and the city, but also on numerous snow-white beaches.

Today, Dubai is one of the most famous fast-growing cities on the planet in various fields of activity.

Like most cities on the planet, it is divided into districts. Deira is considered the most popular among tourists and entrepreneurs. Deira area is the business center of Dubai. The most visited place here is Nasser Square. It is a huge area around which various buildings and attractions are erected. At the moment, the quarter has been renamed “Baniyas Square”, but the old name has stuck for centuries.

ABOUT "NASSER SQUARE" or "BANIYAS SQUARE"

The architecture of “Nasser Square” is striking in its originality, combining characteristic traditional buildings of the East and a huge number of modern buildings. The main attraction of the quarter is the famous Deira Tower shopping center. Its peculiarity is that no matter where the sun will shine throughout the day, the tower will always cover the area with its shadow. The tower houses about 40 shops that sell carpets from Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan.

Also on the square there is a tower built in the traditional Arabic style - “DTCM” (“DTCM” - Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing), where they will help you answer any question you have about tours in Dubai. The Deira Clocktower, a clock tower connecting Airport Road and Rigga Road, was also built on the square.

In the center of the square there is a small fountain, which at night demonstrates light and music performances to everyone around, as well as an extraordinary building - “Heritage House” (“Wind Tower”, in Arabic “Bardzhil”), owned by the “DTCM” information bureau.

The Nasser Square quarter surprises with its scale, since its territory houses four of the most popular markets in the Persian Gulf: Deira Covered Souk, Naif Souk, Murshid Bazaar "("Murshid Souk"), "Wasl Souk" ("Wasl Souk"), three huge centers for the sale of gold and silver on the territory of the famous market "Golden Souk" ("Gold Market"): "The Gold Center" ("Gold Center), “Gold Land”, “Gold House”, as well as a huge number of various restaurants and cafes.

The quarter gained its main popularity due to the huge number of shopping centers, small shops and shops that specialize in the sale of fur; the approximate number of such points here is about 100. It is not for nothing that the quarter is considered a paradise for a shopaholic. But do not forget that once you get here, at every step you will meet “kamaki” - intermediaries offering their services for free in resolving your issues.

Another distinctive feature of the quarter is the presence of a large number of hotels - about 20, entertainment centers and various places for leisure activities.

Among the most famous hotels: “Deira Grand Hotel”, “Delmon Palace Hotel”, “Flora Hotel Appartment”, “STD cat B”, “Fortuna 3*” and others.

HOW TO GET TO NASSER SQUARE

There are several ways to get to Nasser Square:

  • taxi in Dubai - order by phone or catch on the street. The method is the simplest, but you need to take into account the location of the market and the distance, since if you do not live in Deira, you will need to move across the Creek, and this is not the closest route.
  • metro in Dubai - get to the Baniyas Square station, take the green line and you are there.
  • Abra in Dubai is the most popular way among tourists, as you need to sail across the picturesque Creek on a traditional Arabian boat. To get to the Dubai Creek pier, you need to get to the Bur Dubai area, for example through the Al Ghubaiba metro station on the green line, then go down to the bay.

VIDEO “NASSER SQUARE”

So, if you decide to visit this amazing place and have decided on your shopping, go straight to Nasser Square and plunge into the vibrant life of this place.

Shopping is one of the most exciting things to do in the UAE. The Nasser Square shopping district has gained extraordinary popularity among Russian tourists for shopping in Dubai, in the vastness of which there are four colorful markets: Deira Covered Souk, Naif Souk, Murshid Bazaar, Wasl Souk, three centers for the sale of gold: The Gold Centre, Gold Land, Gold House, as well as numerous restaurants and cafes. The official name of the area is Baniyas Square, but for everyone it is still good old Nasser. The originality, unique atmosphere, the smell of roasted coffee, an abundance of various goods, and relatively low prices invite you to plunge headlong into a real labyrinth of streets.

Externally, Nasser Square is associated with an ordinary clothing market. Here you will meet Europeans, Arabs, Afghans, Pakistanis, Indians, Africans. During the Russian-Emirati trade, shuttles were purchased at Nasser; Russian-language inscriptions on glass display cases serve as a reminder of this: “Wholesale and retail.” From local traders, who realize that this is a Russian, you can hear phrases such as “kakdilya”, “cheap”, “come on”, “pasmatri”.

If we talk about goods, then Nasser Square is replete with them. What is there: clothes, shoes and accessories, watches, household and digital appliances, jewelry, dishes, fabrics, children's underwear and other consumer goods. You won’t see well-known brands, and if you go after them, then consider that time is lost. It is rather a mass product that many people buy in large quantities due to low prices. By the way, bargaining for Nasser is appropriate. Basically, sellers understand Russian, make excellent contacts and reduce prices by about 30%. It all depends on your communication skills and trading skills.

You will see a sea of interesting shops with signs saying “Any item for 10-20 dirhams”. It’s interesting that watches are sold here in whole bundles, perfumes are sold by the bottle in any container, clothes are sold by the dozen. I must say that this area is the most fur-coated place in Dubai and the Emirates as a whole. About 80 fur coat shops await tourists, where fur beauties are presented, ranging from Chinese rabbits to Barguzin sables and ending with beautiful mink coats from Blackglama. Be sure to visit such famous stores as Abrazh center and Alaska. Can't find the store or product you need? Our former compatriots from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, “kamaki” in Greek, will help you. They will show, tell and easily lead you to the desired point, and will also receive a 10% share of your purchase from the seller for their “work.” In general, be prepared for the fact that the purchase price with a guide will be higher. This is not always a bad thing, if the kamak is smart, then you will find an excellent store and buy a good fur coat. But it’s quite possible to run into outright swindlers who align themselves with a ready buyer and demand their share from the seller. So, it’s better to refuse the services of escorting you around the shops, learn to navigate the map yourself, because saving a couple of hundred dollars is never too much.

Now let's outline the markets at Nasser Square in a few words. A very impressive structure - a white fortress with battlements on the walls is called Naif Souk. This indoor market offers visitors a variety of textiles: from fabric cuts to traditional outfits for women and children, fabric for curtains, curtains and furniture drapery, as well as shoes, hair jewelry, bags. Hookahs and related products for them are sold in shops adjacent to the outside of the building. Nearby there are workshops for tailoring men's clothing, where professional tailors work harmoniously. So placing an order is not a problem.

The main focus of Murshid Bazaar is wholesale trade, but there are stores offering retail goods at affordable prices. Clothing, shoes and cosmetics dominate the Wasl Souk market. All kinds of Arabic household items are presented on Deira Covered Souk. During breaks between shopping at Nasser Square, you can drink a special strong, sweetened tea with milk - kadak, as well as strong and hard coffee with cardamom and cinnamon flavors.

So, if you have decided what you want to buy, have free time and a desire to find your shopping happiness - go straight to the lively Nasser Square.

Every person from time to time has an irresistible desire to radically change the situation and take a break from the noisy city and its polluted air. It is at this moment that the question arises: “Where to go?” One of the most attractive countries where you can not only relax comfortably, but also enjoy peace and tranquility without any difficulties, and also significantly expand your knowledge of Eastern culture, is the United Arab Emirates.

Holidays in the UAE

Here you will find luxury hotels and restaurants, unfailing luxury and impeccable service at all resorts. This is exactly the state where sand dunes with camel caravans floating along them peacefully coexist with numerous shops, when looking at the windows of which you understand that this country is a real paradise for shopping. In addition, the UAE is famous for its gorgeous and clean beaches, and extreme sports enthusiasts can travel to the desert and ski on the sand. For those who seek to expand their knowledge of history and culture, numerous excursions are offered, during which you can not only see legendary sights, but also learn a lot of new and interesting things about them. One of the most popular places that are recommended to visit when going on holiday to the United Arab Emirates is Dubai. The sights of this city have always attracted numerous tourists. But first things first.

Dubai - heaven on earth

Dubai is considered the largest and most popular city in the UAE, the center of the Emirates. It is located on the coast and is a beautiful, dynamically developing settlement. The canal, which still serves as a harbor for Arab transport ships, divides the city into two parts. The large eastern territory, located northeast of Dubai Creek, is Deira. This business district with numerous business centers and branches of various companies is called Jumeirah. The visiting card of the area is the famous Parus Hotel.

Another part of the city is Bur Dubai. This area contains the history of the entire settlement. This is where unique architectural structures and historical monuments are concentrated. For history buffs, this part of the city is considered the most attractive. A map of Dubai with attractions will help you plan an excursion for those visiting the country for the first time. After all, you want to see as much as possible in a short period of time.

Dubai Attractions

The hallmark of Dubai is currently the Burj Khalifa skyscraper (Dubai Tower). This is the tallest building in the world, which opened in 2010. Its height is 828 meters. No less attractive is one of the largest aquariums in the world, located in the largest Mall. It is a giant glass panel with a tunnel underneath for visitors. A Dubai map with attractions will help you quickly get to this unique place. Another unique structure in the city is the singing fountain located near the Burj Khalifa tower. Its height is 150 meters. Depending on the musical composition, the fountain's jets rise to one or another height. Another incredible Arab project is artificially created islands. One of these is Palm Jumeirah. The diameter of this island reaches 5 kilometers. For shopping lovers, Nasser Square is an ideal place. Dubai receives thousands of guests every day who strive to visit this particular area.

Heart of Deira

In the very center of Deira lies Nasser Square. Dubai (reviews from people who have visited this corner of the UAE more than once confirm these words) has long attracted tourists with its numerous shops, markets and shopping centers. It is this quarter that attracts shopaholics and ordinary travelers with hundreds of shop windows, counters, restaurants and cafes for every taste. Now the square has been renamed Bunyas Square, but this does not reduce the number of guests trying to visit the mentioned part of the city. Baniyas Square is a huge square surrounded by numerous buildings and attractions. The most frequent tourists here are residents of the former CIS countries. Meeting Russian speakers in this square is not uncommon. Plus, here you can hear advertisements for many stores in Russian.

Attractions at Nasser (Baniyas) Square

In addition to the abundance of shops, Nasser Square (Dubai) is famous for its unique architecture, which combines both traditional buildings and ultra-modern structures. It is very cozy, with numerous fountains and benches for relaxation. Life on the square does not stop for a moment. The pride of architecture is the famous Deira Tower. It is located in the very center of Baniyas Square and is designed in such a way that it covers the square from the scorching sun almost all the time. The structure is a 20-story building topped with a high, closed spherical dome. There are large curves on the façade of the building. They help create shadow throughout the entire street. Nearby are the most picturesque fountains with a fairly large water basin and several dozen high jets. Palm trees are planted along the perimeter of the tanks, and original lighting is turned on at night.

Nasser Square Markets

Dubai is a true paradise for shopping lovers. The many shopping streets of Nasser Square form a kind of labyrinth. There are four markets here: Usal, Naif, Murshid and the popular Deira indoor market, named after the area. The Murshid market is considered the oldest. It stretches in a narrow strip along the bay. Nearby, on Sikkat Al Khail Street, is the Gold Souk, where you can buy silver and gold jewelry and accessories, many of which are decorated with precious stones. For the convenience of visitors, the territory of the bazaar is shaded by a convex roof, which protects from the scorching sun. Products made from “oriental gold” are more expensive. They are not difficult to distinguish as they are more yellow in color than the gold jewelry we are used to seeing. And still they are cheaper than here in Russia. From this street there are many side streets lined with small traditional coffee shops. The spice market is no less attractive. To get there, you need to walk along Al-Ras, then turn onto Abra Street. On the left you will find an entrance leading to one of the few streets of the mentioned market. Here you can buy any spices you have ever heard of. It is this corner of Nasser Square that best conveys the entire oriental flavor.

The shops

Let us emphasize once again: if you are looking for the perfect shopping destination in the UAE, go to Dubai. Nasser Square, whose shops and shops stretch in an endless line, will justify all your hopes. Here you can buy anything you want: shoes, clothes, haberdashery, various souvenirs, fabrics, electronics and household appliances. Almost all local traders know some Russian. When purchasing goods in stores and retail stores, you should remember that in Arab countries it is accepted that a product has an initial cost, but this does not mean that it is final. Thus, you can always bargain and get a decent discount. You will not find products from famous brands in regular stores. For this purpose, go on reconnaissance to special boutiques in shopping centers.

Nasser (Baniyas) Square is the best place to purchase fur products

Numerous reviews on various forums are full of statements that many tourists drop into the shops in Nasser Square to buy a fur coat. Fur products from leading companies are sold in more than 100 points. The stores offer fur coats of all kinds, models, sizes, colors and brands. Buyers are offered a variety of furs, ranging from rabbit to mink. For tourists planning to make a purchase, a little advice: do it only in branded stores, which you can find out about in advance on the official websites. Popular and reputable locations include Crystal Building, Al Owais Business, Deira Abraj, Baniyas Tower, Baniyas Building and Landmark Plaza Hotel. If you don’t know your way around the shops that Nasser Square is so famous for, then just stop the first person you meet. Name the product you want to purchase or the name of the store, and they will not only show you where this place is, but will also take you to the point of sale.

If you are going to the UAE not on vacation, but specifically for shopping in Nasser Square (Dubai), then before the trip it is recommended to study the pricing policy and find out the specific cost of similar goods in stores in your city. This is necessary so that later it does not turn out that you purchase a product that costs more than in stores in your hometown. And further. Even if you find yourself in Nasser Square solely for the purpose of shopping, try to find time and look at nearby attractions, do not miss this opportunity.

Hotels

In addition to all kinds of shops, shopping centers and markets, the area is home to hundreds of office buildings, numerous public recreational facilities and hotels of varying levels of comfort. Nasser Square (Dubai) boasts five-star hotels, among which the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel 5*, located in close proximity to the Dubai shopping center, deserves special attention. The new Holiday Inn, Al Barsha 5* hotel is also rapidly gaining popularity. No less famous are such hotels as Carlton Tower Hotel 4*, Hotel Riviera 4*, Mayfair Hotel 3*, Landmark Plaza Hotel 3*, Al Khaleej Hotel 3*.

Those who opt for budget accommodation are advised to pay attention to hotels such as Ramee International Hotel 2*, Phenicia Hotel 2* and White Fort Hotel 1*.

How to get there

Before getting to Nasser Square, the photo of which is presented here, you need to take a flight from Moscow to Dubai, which lasts 5 hours. Planes to the UAE also fly from other Russian cities. Dubai International Airport is the largest airport in the Middle East. International flights are accepted at Terminal 1. To get to the city by metro, you need to go to Terminal 3. Better yet, find Nasser Square (Dubai) on the map. This will make it easier to navigate during the trip. To take the metro, you need to get on the green line and then go to Baniyas Square station. Knowing which hotels are located in the area, you can get there by special buses. But the easiest option is a taxi. Here you don’t need to speak Arabic, you just need to name the area, and the driver will take you home without any problems.

What about the weather, or when is the best time to go?

Before going to the UAE, you need to find out everything about the weather conditions in a given period of the year, and choose the most suitable one for yourself. So, in the summer there is sultry heat here. The temperature even in the shade reaches 35-43 degrees above zero. But in winter it’s much easier to breathe. The thermometer shows from 18 to 25 degrees Celsius. In addition, it must be taken into account that the main rainy season occurs in December and January. A trip during this time period may be overshadowed by heavy rainfall and spoil all the pleasure of traveling and shopping. When purchasing tickets or tours, you must take into account that from the end of September, after the summer heat subsides a little, the tourist season begins, which lasts until the beginning of May. Therefore, during this period their cost may be slightly more expensive.

UAE, Dubai. Trade and office center "Abrazh". A popular place for fur coat shopping.

A fur coat in Dubai will cost you about $400 less if you read this page carefully. Good luck!

Dubai is an ideal place for those who want to buy a fur coat and relax at the same time. One might object - what about Greek Kastoria? Kastoria is also an ideal place to buy a fur coat, but you won’t be able to relax there at the same time - the nearest beach is about 150 km away. Well, add to this Dubai itself, a fairy-tale city, which with every miracle seems to be telling us, Russians, - you also have oil, where do you spend the money from its sale?! Where, where, but we buy fur coats in Dubai!

Another advantage of buying a fur coat in Dubai is compact location of fur shops– more than 80% of them are located in the area of the square Nasser Square. True, it has now been renamed Baniyas Square, but everyone still calls it Nasser. So, if you don’t try on fur coats in every store, you can easily get around them all on foot during the evening promenade. If, of course, you know where to go. And for those who don’t know, right now I’ll tell you and show you everything in detail with the addresses and phone numbers of Dubai fur shops.

Nasser Square. Map and list of fur shops.

As I already said, the main place for fur coats in Dubai is Nasser Square. Before the 2015-2016 crisis, there were about 140 fur coat shops here. Now, at the beginning of 2018, there are about 50 of them left here. However, Nasser Square was and remains the leader in both the quantity and quality of fur coats. And, what is also very important, this is where the most brand stores of Greek fur factories.

Why is the card called “Babai’s card” or “Babai53 card” - this came from one of the fur forums on the Internet where I express myself under the nickname Babai53 - what can you do, I’m really not a young man anymore, that is, simply Babai...

The map shows 11 shopping centers that have or had fur shops. Unfortunately, as of January 2018, there are no fur shops left in the Crystal Building and Dubai Tower, but I saved them on the map because I hope that over time the situation will improve and they will appear there again.

In the meantime, the list of operating fur coat centers in Nasser Square is as follows:

A relatively new fur coat trade center in Dubai has become Port Saeed, a small block next to Deira City Center. So far there are only 4 (four) stores, but they are quite large and are heavily promoted by kamaks and hotel guides.

Where else can you buy a fur coat in Dubai?

We looked at the most convenient places to buy a fur coat in Dubai - these are Nasser (Baniyas) Square, about 45 fur shops, and Port Said, 4 fur shops. These places are convenient because the shops here are concentrated in a small area and are easy to get around on foot. However, there are also single stores and showrooms in Dubai, for example, the Manzari brand store on JBR (Jumairah Beach Residence). But since it is not economically profitable to search for and collect information about scattered stores scattered throughout the vast Dubai, I did not show much diligence in this matter. In my defense, I can only say that there are not many such stores, maybe about a dozen. Five of them are listed on the Fur Fur Shops in Dubai page (select "Individual Stores" from the drop-down list). There, in one table, all the fur stores known to me in Dubai are collected as of January 1, 2018.

A little about the prices of fur coats in Dubai.

As of January 2018, actual purchase prices for mink coats start at $1,600 for European mink coats and $2,200 for North American Blackglama and BlackNafa. This is for a straight fur coat, size 46, 100 cm long, without a hood and without any trimmings with sables and lynxes.
Prices drop in summer ten percent. The reason is the heat and the lack of tourists. Not a season. In general, summer in the Emirates is the best time for shopping - prices for all goods are reduced, including the cost of hotel accommodation. But... in the summer, due to the lack of tourists, charter flights are canceled and we have to fly only on regular flights. And this is more expensive! And I don’t even want to remember about 50 degrees of heat.

What kind of fur coats are sold in Dubai.

The bulk of fur coats sold in Dubai are Greek from Kastoria and Siatista. Then there are fur coats that sellers say are Italian. Chinese fur coats, compared to pre-crisis times, have become almost invisible. Let's add Turkish sheepskin coats and leather.
