Look for cheap tickets for any type of transport without leaving your home:

  • De Havilland Canada DHC-8-400

This aircraft model was put into operation instead of the similar Boeing 757-200. The aircraft are used for charter transportation of passengers, as well as seasonal routes. All 12 models in the fleet are very new, with the oldest aircraft no more than five years old.

Since AirBaltic mainly positions itself as a low-cost airline, the company's management plans to decommission the remaining Boeings in the same way as the Boeing 757-200 previously. Instead, it is planned to introduce more convenient Bombardier CS300ER.

Baggage transportation

The size of hand luggage depends entirely on the type of passenger ticket and the privileges associated with each of them. However, there is a general rule for ticket holders of all categories - no more than 8 kilograms of the total weight of all things in the cabin.

The luggage that people take with them on a plane is usually divided into personal items and hand luggage.

According to the regulations, personal belongings include PCs, handbags, bags for cameras and laptops, umbrellas, etc.

  • If a passenger has a regular or premium ticket, then according to Air Baltic rules he can take with him only one personal item and one standard-sized carry-on baggage.
  • If a passenger flies in business class, two carry-on luggage is allowed into the cabin, but still one personal item.

If, during baggage check-in, employees find out that the dimensions of a passenger’s hand luggage or personal belongings exceed the norms, he will be required to pay an additional fee of 40 euros. If this situation is detected when the passenger boards, he will have to pay 20 euros more for checking in an additional seat in the cabin, reserved specifically for his hand luggage.

It is strictly prohibited to carry any types of liquids exceeding 100 ml in hand luggage, unless they were purchased in duty-free shops at the airport in compliance with these rules adopted by airports in the Schengen area.

Baggage fees are also determined using the passenger ticket. The general rule for checked baggage is no more than twenty kilograms per person. Some passengers have baggage transportation privileges:

  • The most privileges are available to business class ticket holders. It allows the passenger to take luggage with a total weight not exceeding forty kilograms. There will be no charge for it.
  • Free baggage is also available to those who have purchased a premium ticket. For them, the baggage allowance is halved - to 20 kg per person.
  • Passengers who have purchased a regular economy class ticket do not have free baggage privileges. The price varies depending on the time and moment of ordering the service. The best time to buy baggage space is at the time of purchasing your ticket. Then the payment will be 19.99 euros (if the passenger makes a round-trip flight, he must pay this amount twice).

The maximum free baggage weight can be 80 kg if the passenger is a PINS VIP member.

AirBaltics airline declines responsibility for damage to personal property located in suitcases or bags during the flight, as it always warns to transport particularly fragile items in hand luggage.

Thus, AirBaltic is the largest low-cost airline in the Baltic countries with an official website in Russian, where you can find out about air ticket prices, study information about flight directions and rules for carrying baggage and hand luggage. Air Baltic has been operating in the aviation services market for a long time and has won the trust of many European citizens.

check-in

An air carrier with identification code bt (according to IATA) prefers to check in for a flight online; it starts 5 days before departure and ends based on the rules of a particular airport (this check-in method is free). To do this, just follow the link https://www.airbaltic.com/en-UA/index?opentab=CKI to the page of the company’s official website.

Here you can check in for connecting flights, even if the flight is operated by different companies. Registration for transfers begins 24 hours before the flight, and the end depends on the related air carrier.

You can use your smartphone to check in for your flight, which is very convenient to do while sitting in a taxi on the way to the airport. Those who did not have time to take advantage of this opportunity will have to resort to the classic method - at the check-in counter at the airport, but the company has a paid service for this (30 €). If the airport has self-service kiosks, you can check in there.

Note! Check-in at the counter begins 2 hours before departure and ends 30 minutes for business class and 40 minutes for economy class. The passenger must be at the exit to the runway no later than 25 minutes before departure.

Dockings

Most international flights of Air Baltic are connecting. Transfer from board to board is carried out within 30 minutes. The air carrier guarantees its passengers travel without delays. If the flight is delayed, the plane will wait for customers at the connecting point for the onward flight.

Business class passengers have the opportunity to relax in the airport business lounge, where they will offer a choice of hot meals, snacks, drinks, and newspapers. Members of bonus programs can use their accumulated points to rent a hotel room.

Baggage rules

The carrier has its own baggage allowance: for 1 piece - 20 kg, dimensions 50x80x100 cm. Quantity and payment are determined depending on the class:

  • in business class you can check in 2 pieces of luggage of the agreed dimensions free of charge;
  • for premium class, 1 piece of baggage is allowed free of charge;
  • in other cases, the amount charged is from 19.99 €, this takes into account the method of purchasing the service, the duration of the flight and the destination.

Note! For connecting flights, a fee of €29.99 is charged per baggage item.

For carrying into the cabin, the following parameters are determined for hand luggage - 20x40x55 cm, personal items - 10x40x30 cm. Their total weight should not exceed 8 kg (the exception applies only to the belongings of infants). For business class, you are allowed to carry 2 pieces of hand luggage of the specified dimensions. If the weight and dimensions of hand luggage exceed the norms, it is regarded as luggage and is checked into the luggage compartment.

If the size and weight of bags and suitcases do not fit into the regulatory parameters, you will have to pay for the excess. There is a charge of 50€ for heavy loads, but the maximum weight allowed must not exceed 32kg. Oversized luggage costs €60. In total, a passenger can carry up to 5 pieces of luggage; for extra bags you will have to pay from 19.99 to 60 €, depending on the flight distance and the method of baggage check-in.

Note! For an infant, 1 piece of luggage weighing up to 10 kg is provided free of charge. If a stroller, cradle, or child car seat is available, they will be included in your luggage free of charge in excess of the norm.

Nutrition

Meals are provided on board Airbaltic aircraft if the flight duration is more than 1.5 hours.

  • In business class there is a wide range of different menus taking into account dietary, religious and other preferences. Meals are provided free of charge, but if you have any wishes, you should reserve a special menu 24 hours before departure;
  • For economy class, meals are paid and are provided if the passenger orders it in advance - upon online check-in 1 hour before departure, in other cases 24 hours. There is also a large assortment to choose from, the minimum cost of an individual dish is 7 €, a set of products is from 12 €.

The proposed diet can be found on the company’s website.

Traveling with children

When traveling with small children, you should take into account that infants under 2 years of age must be in the arms of an accompanying person. If you intend to use a lightweight car seat for installation on an additional seat, then you will have to pay for it at the child rate. Strollers are checked into the luggage compartment.

Note! Children over 12 years of age can travel unaccompanied, under 12 years of age - only with adults. If this is not possible, the company can provide support for a fee.

Parents must worry about baby food themselves or order it during registration. Business class provides not only a free menu for children over 5 years old, but also for infants. When flying in economy class, you will have to take formula milk with you, and older children can order food for €8.

Aircraft fleet

The bulk of the vehicles in the company's fleet are Bombardiers, produced since 1991: CS300 and Q400 NextGen. There are also Boeing 737 - the most popular passenger transport, the production of which began in 1967. The average age of all equipment in the Airbaltic fleet is 13 years. The main characteristics can be found by studying the table below.

Characteristics of the airline's fleet aircraft "AirBaltic"

Attention: The internal data of table “55” is corrupted!

All aircraft the company operates provide comfortable conditions for passengers and a silent flight.

Base airport

The main airport where the carrier is based is Riga International. There are 2 additional hubs in the neighboring Baltic republics: Vilnius Airport in Lithuania and Vilnius Airport in Estonia. Lennart Meri (Tallinn), where flight connections are also made.

Types of tariffs

The company's tariff schedule is divided into 3 classes, and each has its own characteristics:

  • economy basic - the cheapest tariff, but also the minimum of various options. The ticket price includes only hand luggage. The ticket is non-refundable, but you can change the date if you pay the difference in fares plus 20 € for the service;
  • Economy Premium already includes free luggage up to 20 kg, as well as free check-in at the airport. It is possible to change the time and date of departure, as well as the name on the ticket, but you will have to pay extra for this;
  • business is the highest priority and most expensive fare, which includes additional bonuses for passengers, plus an increased free baggage allowance.

Important! It should be taken into account that the company’s tariffs change from time to time, so it is worth checking the carrier’s website periodically.

Many consider this airline to be a low-cost airline, but this is not entirely true - low economy class fares with a minimum of services are combined with high business class prices, which imply increased quality of service.

So Aerobaltic uses a hybrid model of serving its passengers, which makes it possible for people with different income levels to use the carrier’s services.

Where do they fly?

Aerobaltic transports cargo and passengers to European countries. The main directions are:

  • Sweden,
  • Finland,
  • Norway,
  • Germany,
  • Russia.

For residents of Scandinavia and Russians, flights to Europe are connecting – with a transfer in Riga, which is convenient when traveling long distances. The main departure points from Russia are Moscow and St. Petersburg.

In total, the company serves 80 destinations. The carrier is not going to stop on existing flights, introducing all new routes into the schedule. Communication with passengers on flights is carried out not only in international English - the country to which (from which) the flight will take place is also taken into account. Passengers from Russia will be communicated in Russian.

bonus program

Every passenger flying with this company can become a participant in the PINS accumulation program. To do this, you need to purchase a personalized card to which the charges will go.

PINS are accumulated if the participant himself is flying (that is, the full name on the ticket matches the name on the card). The class used by the passenger also matters here: in basic economy, 1 PINS is awarded per flight, in premium – 2, in business – 3.

Note! If, due to the fault of the company, the passenger had to use the services of another carrier, these flight hours will also be taken into account after a corresponding request.

The company is a participant in the large-scale BalticMiles program. The passenger can use the points he has accumulated for flights to purchase a plane ticket or take advantage of other offers (including charity).

Promotions and discounts

AirBaltic is the only company offering a flight delay guarantee service. To do this, it is enough to make an additional payment of 10 € when booking. If the flight is delayed, the passenger submits an application within a month to be provided with an e-coupon for subsequent flights.

The company periodically holds promotions, offering significant discounts on tickets for some destinations. Since discounts are designed for certain periods, you should regularly visit the Aerobaltic website in order to book a ticket at a low price on time.
