Spanish Football Championship in the middle of nowhere. Spanish championship in the middle of nowhere Spain league table

The 2017/2018 Spanish Football Championship starts in August - another draw for one of the strongest national tournaments in Europe! When will the new edition of the Spanish Championship start? What does the competition calendar look like? Who is included in the list of participants in the competition? Which clubs will join La Liga, and which, on the contrary, will leave the elite division? Before the start of the new issue, examples are just around the corner. Therefore, the time has come to answer the most important questions regarding the upcoming championship.

Spanish Football Championship Calendar 2017 – 2018

The 87th edition of La Liga will begin in the last month of summer - August 19, 2017, and end on May 13 next year. The Spanish championship involves an almost two-week winter break, which will divide the football tournament into two halves. The first part of the championship starts on August 19 and ends on December 20–25. The second half of the championship will begin on January 4–9, and will last until May 13, 2018.

Thus, the upcoming season will be slightly shorter than the previous one. The last edition of Primera also started on August 19, but its finish is scheduled only for May 21.

La Liga teams 2017 – 2018

20 teams representing all corners of Spain will compete for medals in the competition. Each club will play 39 games. The list of participants guaranteed participation in the 2017/2018 season looks like this:

  • "Barcelona";
  • "Real Madrid";
  • "Atlético (Madrid)";
  • "Seville";
  • Villarreal;
  • Athletic Bilbao;
  • Real Sociedad;
  • "Eibar"
  • Espanyol;
  • "Celta";
  • "Alaves";
  • "Valencia";
  • "Las Palmas";
  • "Betis"
  • "Malaga".

But the five teams languishing at the very bottom of the current Examples league table have every chance of saying goodbye to the elite league for at least one year. The risk zone includes 5 clubs:

  1. "Deportivo";
  2. Leganes;
  3. Sporting Gijon;
  4. "Granada";
  5. "Osasuna".

The Pamplona club Osasuna is in the most deplorable state. The Basques have lost all opportunities to remain in the country's main football division. Things don't look any better for Granada. But the rest of the teams still have every chance of not flying into the Segunda.

Tournament newcomers

According to the regulations, the three worst teams at the end of the season are relegated to the Segunda, the second most important professional league in Spain. At the same time, the 3 best teams in the second division move to La Liga. Two tickets will go to the holders of gold and silver in the 2016–2017 Segunda Championship. Another place in Example will be competed by 4 clubs in a special mini-tournament of the second league.

"Levante"

Fans of the Spanish championship will definitely see this FC from Valencia in the Primera matches 2017 - 2018. Based on the results of the games in the second league, the club guaranteed itself access to the elite division, where it will return a year later.

"Girona"

Another almost 100% major league rookie. Moreover, this Catalan FC is doubly new, because it has never played in La Liga before. However, unlike Levante, Girona does not have such an impressive lead over their rivals. Therefore, the Catalans may well miss their finest hour.

But there is still a third option. It will be played between the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th teams of the Segunda 2016 – 2017. 9 clubs are vying for the coveted pass to the elite:

  • "Tenerife";
  • Getafe;
  • "Cadiz"
  • "Oviedo"
  • "Huesca"
  • Valladolid;
  • "Lugo";
  • "Zaragoza";
  • Sevilla Atlético.

Four of them will compete for a “ticket” to the main football division of Spain in a mini-tournament using the playoff system. Last year, Osasuna players were the lucky ones. We will find out who will benefit from football fortunes this time in June-July 2017.

Afterword

Football games in La Liga 2017 – 2018 will start very soon. The best national championship in the world will be held for the 87th time! What will you remember about the upcoming draw? Another round of confrontation between Messi and Ronaldo? An attempt by Atlético Madrid to outdo Real and Barcelona? Or the unexpected rise of an “average” team? Well, we are waiting for August 2017, when the first intrigues around the 87th season of the Spanish championship begin to be resolved!

The Spanish La Liga 2017-2018, also known as the Spanish La Liga or Primera League, started on August 18, 2017, and will continue until May 20, 2018. This will be the 87th drawing of this tournament.

In the previous season, the winner of the Examples was Real Madrid, beating its main competitor, the Catalan Barcelona, by 3 points.

As in previous editions, 20 teams will take part in La Liga. To the 17 participants of the 2016/17 season, 3 representatives of the Segunda were added. They were the 3 best teams of the second most important football championship in Spain: Getafe, Levante and Girona.

The main match of Examples, which is called “El Classico”, will take place on December 20. Real Madrid and Barcelona, as in every season, are the main contenders for the championship gold medals. Atlético Madrid, which became the La Liga champion in the 2013-2014 season, will try to impose a fight on the giants of Spanish football.

Another main confrontation of the Spanish championship will be the battle “Ronaldo VS Messi”. These two best players compete with each other in terms of goals and assists every season. Last season, this fight was won by Leo Messi, who also became the best goalscorer of the European championships.

La Liga matches will be held every week, and the results of the games will be published in the standings online.

Real Madrid, after a goalless draw in El Clasico against Barcelona, had to play an ordinary Clasico - against Athletic - in their own stadium. Of course, the “cream” were the favorites, but Zidane’s team again, having a huge advantage, was unable to translate it into goals. Everything was against the hosts - the posts, the crossbar, goalkeeper Unai Simon, finally. The result of the year was that after 18 rounds, Barcelona went into the winter break as the sole leader, and this draw against the Basques could come back to haunt Real at the end of the championship. As for the rest of the results, it was the teams from the Basque Country that pleased us. Real Sociedad broke the resistance of Osasuna in an extremely productive match, Eibar defeated Granada, only Alaves let us down, but there was nothing special to catch at the Camp Nou against a slightly angry Barcelona. Valencia barely rebounded in Valladolid and, on the contrary, Sevilla achieved a confident victory. For some reason, Getafe slowed down, while Villarreal, who beat them, again showed European Cup intentions. Other Andalusians, Betis, lost at home to Atlético Madrid, which, thanks to this victory, returned to the top 4. In the basement of the standings, Espanyol was the worst, having lost to Leganes in Madrid, while Celta and Mallorca also failed to score points. Apparently, it is these 4 teams that will fight for the saving 17th position at the end of the season. What’s interesting is that a lot of matches in this round were decided by “jokers”. Particularly indicative in this sense is the match between Levante and Celta and Atlético against Betis. We also note that only two matches of this match day ended in a draw, unlike the 17th round.

“Dry” wins for the hosts.

Granada continues to crumble. I can’t even believe that this is the same team that beat Barcelona. Eibar, which is at the bottom of the standings, gained an important 3 points in a home match. The game was essentially decided based on the results of the first half. The visitors had the first chance, but Carlos Fernandez's shot lacked accuracy. And then the hosts dominated. And if Escalante and Pedro Leon were unable to open Rui Silva’s goal, then Enrich’s falling shot from the right from 8 meters after a cross from the same Escalante became unstoppable. Five minutes later, the score was doubled by Quique, who converted a pass after a rebound from Exposito and shot past the goalkeeper from the right edge of the penalty area. A few minutes later, Escalante could have scored himself, but Rui Silva managed it. During the break, the Nasrids, strangely enough, had no substitutions. The Basques calmly rolled the ball, and even if the guests tried to escalate it, it didn’t work. Only in the last 10 minutes Machis checked the crossbar, and Alex Martinez checked the post from a set piece, but instead of reducing the gap in the score, Diego Martinez's men settled for a rout. Kike ran to someone else's penalty area and rolled to the left towards Inui. Takashi seemed to have gone to a sharp angle, but then turned around and fired a sharp right-handed shot under the far post.

Getafe suddenly stopped short. It is clear that a visit to Villarreal cannot be considered as a guaranteed trip for points, but the “submariners” have been blown away lately, which gave some hope for success. The first half of the half was left to the hosts, and in the middle they simply had to open the scoring. First, Manu Trigueros, after a cross from the left, headed high above the target, and then Gerard Moreno, after a cross from the left, hit the crossbar with his head from a couple of meters from Trigueros. The guests fought back without really creating anything, but the teams went into the break with nothing. But almost immediately after the whistle to start the second half, the Submariners were able to seal Soria. Zambo-Anguissa took the ball in the opposing half of the field, fought with three opponents on his shoulders to rendezvous with the keeper, but was unable to shoot through. The goalkeeper deflected the sphere onto the foot of Moi Gomez, who hit the already empty goal. The Blues came to their senses a little, began to create chances, but the team was let down by Matias Olivera, who received a second yellow card. In the end, it was more likely that the hosts could have scored a second, because they were in contention for a penalty, plus Ekambi had two good chances, than Madrid could have won back, but the match ended with a minimal score.

No, unprepared teams will not make it to the European Cup. Spain's main outsider after the key match in the basement of the table was Espanyol, a participant in the 1/16 finals of the Europa League. The Catalans arrived at Leganes by no means as favorites, while the Madrid team seemed to have begun their climb to the top. Already in the 11th minute, Braithwaite received a cutting pass from Oscar Rodriguez to the left edge of the penalty area and calmly converted a one-on-one with Diego Lopez. After that, the hosts continued to dominate. In the middle of the half, Rodriguez could have scored from a free kick, but did not clear the wall. At the end of the half, the author of the first goal created two chances. First, Martin himself collapsed in someone else's penalty area, but the referee saw no reason for a penalty, and then brought En-Nesyri into the shooting position - Youssef fired past the left post. Almost immediately after the break, the Parrots' chances of gaining any points became scanty. Kevin Rodrigues, with a cross pass from the left flank, found the unmarked En-Nesyri at the 11-meter penalty, and he turned the ball under the crossbar with a left-handed turn. Only after this did the guests come to life, but Campusano's shot went over the crossbar, while in the final minutes Calleri shot from outside the penalty area straight at Cuellar, and Wu Lei missed a penalty, just like Braithwaite had earlier.

Away victories of the giants.

Mallorca is unable to break away from its pursuers. The Balearics are teetering on the brink of relegation and have not dropped down only because their competitors are not playing better. An angry Sevilla flew to the islands in this round, having lost to Villarreal at home the previous round. The Andalusians did not shelve matters. Lago forgave the guests in the 4th minute, shooting from the goal line after Kubo's pass into the sky, but the guests did not stand on ceremony. Banega sent the ball from the left corner to the goal line, where Diego Carlos jumped over the goalkeeper and headed it into the empty net. The Balearics continued to play as number one and did it well, but they did not convert their chances. First, Budimir fired past the post from the edge of the penalty area, and then finally scored from outside the goalkeeper's area, only from an offside position. The second half could have been interesting, but in the middle of it, Sevilla earned a penalty for a foul on Iddris Baba, who was clearly converted by Banega, removing the intrigue. After that there were substitutions, but they no longer had any impact on the game.

Atlético seems to be returning to its usual state, when three points are clawed out in any case and in any game. “Betis” at home was determined not to lose at least, which was confirmed by the first half. With the exception of the opening ten minutes, the Cucumbers were leading the game and created a chance for Feddal, but he headed the ball into the crossbar. Madrid played on the opponent's counterattacks and mistakes. Morata ran from his own half to rendezvous with Hoel, and the goalkeeper even slipped, but was able to get up and parry Alvaro's shot into the post, after which he took the ball himself. After the break, Simeone made the first substitution, and it turned out to be fateful. Angel Correa came on in the 57th minute, and already in the 58th he took advantage of a gift from Alex Moreno, who knocked the ball into his feet. The forward picked up the sphere, went one-on-one with Hoel and, beating the goalkeeper, scored into the empty net. In two minutes at the end of the half, the hosts could have gotten even, but Bartra's shot from the rebound went over the crossbar, and Canales hit the post. The first smart attack by the “mattress guys” after the goal led to the second goal. Correa came up with this again, but this time he crossed from the right flank, and Morata effectively sent the ball into the target with his heel from the goalkeeper’s area. The Andalusians attacked Oblak's goal and still scored a goal, which turned out to be very controversial. Bartra hit the goalkeeper from the goal line with the help of a rebound, but before that the projectile barely touched the palm of Alex Moreno. According to the new rules, it was necessary to cancel it, but the referee, even after watching the video replay, still counted the goal, although this did not really help the Seville team.

Spanish super performance.

The Catalan “Barcelona” had to win after a goalless El Clasico in order to certainly not let Real Madrid fall in the title race before the winter break. Fortunately, the opponents were Alaves, which had not caused any special problems for a long time. The Glorious Ones arrived at the Camp Nou with the desire to sit out and not concede much, but Pacheco's goal was opened in the first third of the half. Vidal played to Suarez to the right, and he fired a shot under the penalty area, from where Griezmann hit the target. After that, the Catalans began to roll the ball, but at the end of the half they scored again. Now Messi shared the arc of the penalty area with Suarez, and he rolled to the right edge of the penalty area to Vidal. Arturo increased the score with a powerful shot at the far post. The intrigue came after the break. First, there was a disallowed Barça goal due to offside, and then Pere Pons, from the center of the penalty area, headed into Ter Stegen's goal, taking advantage of a cross to the left of Duarte. Immediately after 3 minutes, the guests almost realized the second, but both times the ball went wide of the target. The intrigue died in the 69th minute when Messi, after a short pass from Suarez, shot irresistibly under the left post. The final point was set by the main passer of the match - Suarez. The referee determined the penalty on Luis only after watching the video replay, and from the spot Luis confidently scored the fourth goal.

The most fun match of the tour took place in Pamplona. A contender for the Champions League, Real Sociedad, came to Osasuna. Already in the 8th minute, Aridane Hernandez could have turned the tide of the match, but he headed the ball into the post, after which the guests decided the outcome of the match in 13 minutes. First, Odegaard passed a penetrating pass through the center into the penalty area, and Oyarzabal shot Herrera, and then Porto snatched the ball from Estupiñan, went one on one and converted the chance. Next, Martin Odegaard completed the defeat, placing the ball in the right corner with his left from 22 meters from a free kick. Aridane Hernandez, who responded to Avila's cross and headed the ball into the net, sweetened the pill a little and kept hope alive for the Pamplona team. The most interesting things began after the break. Avila reduced the lead to a minimum in the 48th minute, taking advantage of a mistake by the San Sebastian defenders and falling face-to-face with Remiro. It seemed that Osasuna could put the squeeze on, but the same Avila could not score into an empty goal from a couple of meters. Roncaglia let his team down by elbowing his opponent, for which he received a straight red card. Then Isak, who came on as a substitute for the visitors, aggravated the situation. Alexander was thrown in the center of the penalty area after a corner and he calmly fired a low shot past Herrera. The Pamplonans again intensified their pressure, which led to Avila's double - Ezequiel ran away from two defenders, picked up the ball and headed it past the goalkeeper. There were still 10 minutes left until the end of the match, but the hosts were unable to win back.

It seems that Celta will again try to escape relegation only in the last round. A visit to Levante is not always successful even for the giants, but the Whigs need to score points everywhere, and this is a serious problem. The Galicians began for health. Already in the 12th minute, Aspas opened the gate of Aitor Fernandez on the second attempt. If the keeper parried the shot from the arc, then the shot from the right corner of the goalkeeper's area after a cross from the left corner was irresistible. The Frogs seized the initiative, but only scored with Roher's shot towards the end of the first half - Ruben Blanco pulled it in. Immediately after the break, the Levantines were unable to equalize the score, and the Whigs even squandered several chances, but everything changed after Mayoral entered the field. First, Rojer finished the ball into an empty net after the keeper parried Borja's shot. After 10 minutes, Mayoral ran along the left edge under a throw-in and laid the ball past the keeper on the goal line under a shot from the same Rocher. Celta didn’t even try to win back, but still got the third. This time Mayoral himself put his foot in the goalkeeper's area after Toño's cross.

Modest draws.

Miraculously, Valencia rebounded. We are not yet talking about the coveted league champion four, but here at least they can stay in the European Cup zone, especially since the team will be traveling to the Italian Super Cup in early January, where they will have to play at least one game. Powers are not eternal. Valladolid started confidently. Valencia defended diligently and counterattacked. In one of the counterattacks, Rodrigo could have opened the scoring, but after his header the ball went past the post. After the break, the Puselas became more active and scored a goal through the efforts of Unal, but it was disallowed due to offside. Then Javi Moyano fired well from distance - over the crossbar. Oscar Plano and Guardiola had great chances in the 73rd minute, but it was Bats goalkeeper Jaume Domenech who rose to the occasion. The goal was brewing and took place in the 83rd minute. From a free kick awarded to the right of center, Guardiola threw the ball over the “wall”. Jaume Domenech knocked the ball out of the goal, but the replay showed that the projectile crossed the line. It seemed that Valencia would no longer be saved, but in the last minutes of stoppage time Ferran Torres crossed from the right into the goalkeeper's area, and the ball went past both the defenders and the goalkeeper, so Manu Vallejo could only put his foot down.

Real Madrid need to recharge their batteries and the winter break comes in handy. The third draw in a row in Example, and in the last two matches the Madrid team failed to hit the other goal. If it weren’t for Courtois and Benzema, the goalless streak would have been 3 matches. Still, El Clasico took too much of the “cream” team’s strength. In the home “classic” match against Athletic, the hosts had undivided control of the initiative and could have scored twice in the first 20 minutes, but Vinicius’ shot was covered by Unai Simon, and the Basque keeper’s shot from Kroos hit the crossbar. In the middle of the half, Benzema also found himself in a striking position, but his header was also parried by the goalkeeper. The guests snapped back only in the end, but Codro scored the goal from an offside position, so the score on the scoreboard did not change. Zidane did not make any substitutions during the break, but they were needed after Eder Militao's injury. Nacho, who came on instead of the Brazilian, immediately scored with a header that hit the crossbar in someone else's penalty area. The tradition of hitting the goal frame was continued by substitute Jovic, who replaced Vinicius, only Luka sent a projectile into the post. 7 minutes were added, and Athletic was most active in stoppage time, but the guests also failed to snatch a sensational and unfair victory.

The Spanish La Liga 2017-2018 will follow the same format from August to May. Over the entire season, each club will play 38 matches (19 at home, 19 away). For a win, 3 points are awarded, for a draw - 1, for a loss - 0. The team that scores the most points will become the champion.

The top 4 teams in La Liga receive tickets to the UEFA Champions League (the first 3 teams go directly to the group stage, and the 4th team goes to the playoff round). The teams that take 5th and 6th places at the end of the championship are sent to the UEFA Europa League.

The Spanish Championship, as La Liga is called in the CIS, is one of the three strongest leagues in Europe. Teams from this championship have won the Champions League (17 times), the Europa League (10 times), the UEFA Super Cup (14 times) and the Club World Cup (5 times) more often than others. In addition, Examples football players collected the largest number of “golden balls”.

The main contenders for La Liga gold medals in the 2017/18 season are Real Madrid and Barcelona, as well as Atlético Madrid, Sevilla or maybe some other club that will try to compete with the two Spanish giants.

The list of Example winners over the past 10 years looks like this:

  • 2007-2008: Real Madrid;
  • 2008-2009: Barcelona;
  • 2009-2010: Barcelona;
  • 2010-2011: Barcelona;
  • 2011-2012: Real Madrid;

The Spanish Football Championship 2017/2018 is a new edition of one of the strongest national championships in Europe, which will begin on August 19, 2017, and end on May 13 next year. During this time, fans will see matches performed by 20 clubs representing all corners of Spain. Experts, not without reason, believe that the fight for the trophy will unfold only between three teams – Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atlético. But in the Spanish championship there are enough teams that are capable of, if not interfering in the fight for medals, then certainly drinking blood. So it won't be boring!

What's new this season

Fans will not see Sporting, Osasuna and Granada on the 2017/2018 Primera calendar. These teams left the top football division. The places of last season's losers were taken by Girona and Levante. Another ticket is reserved for the winner of the mini-tournament, which is held for the FCs that took 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th positions in the standings in the latest edition of the Segunda.

In the upcoming season, Barcelona will be led to victory by Ernesto Valverde. He replaced Luis Enrique. The high-profile appointment took place on May 29, 2017.

Another club that had to look for a new coach was Sevilla. Jorge Sampaoli left the red-and-white camp for the post of head coach of the Argentina national team. He was replaced in the Seville team by another Argentine - Eduardo Berizzo.

Berizzo left Celta. Accordingly, Valery Karpin's former team had to quickly look for a replacement. In the end, the choice fell on Juan Carlos Unzue. The 50-year-old specialist previously worked on the Catalan coaching staff.

Betis, after the dismissal of Victor Sanchez, began searching for a new helmsman. The fruit of the efforts of the white-green management was a contract with Keque Setien. He was appointed to his post on May 26, 2017.

When will La Liga 2017 – 2018 games start?

The next edition of the main football championship in Spain starts on August 19, 2017. The season will end at the end of spring 2018 - May 13. The competition regulations also provide for a short winter break, no more than a couple of weeks.

Teams of the Spanish football championship in the 2017/2018 season

20 teams will take part in the 87th edition of the major league. Here is their list:

  1. "Alaves";
  2. Athletic Bilbao;
  3. Atlético Madrid;
  4. "Barcelona";
  5. "Betis"
  6. "Valencia";
  7. Villarreal;
  8. "Deportivo";
  9. "Girona";
  10. "Las Palmas";
  11. "Levante"
  12. Leganes;
  13. "Malaga";
  14. "Real Madrid";
  15. Real Sociedad;
  16. "Seville";
  17. "Celta";
  18. "Eibar"
  19. Espanyol.

Another vacant place will be taken by the winner of the Segunda mini-tournament. It will be either Getafe or Tenerife.

Previously, Levante and Girona guaranteed their participation in the 2017/2018 Spanish Premier League matches. They took first and second places in the Segunda standings, respectively. If Levante is a long-time and proven fighter in La Liga, then for the Girondins this is the first experience of playing in the top division.

La Liga Scorers 2017 – 2018

Well, the Spanish land has always been rich in goalscorers! Examples include such stars as Neymar, Messi, Suarez, Bale and Ronaldo. In La Liga last year, the top five lined up like this:

  1. Lionel Messi - 37 goals;
  2. Luis Suarez - 28;
  3. Cristiano Ronaldo – 25;
  4. Iago Aspas – 19;
  5. Antoine Griezmann and Aritz Aduriz – 16 each.

However, Ronaldo may not be in the top scorers race in the upcoming edition. The eminent Portuguese intends to leave the Spanish championship due to persecution of the local femida, who suspects the star of tax evasion... Let's hope that the “baby doll” will carry through!

Spanish Football Championship standings 2017 – 2018

For several seasons in a row, fans have been watching a squabble for the top positions between three teams - Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atlético. Barça and Los Blancos are fighting for gold. But the “mattress guys,” despite the coaching genius of Diego Simeone, find it difficult to count on anything higher than bronze.

It is extremely difficult for other clubs to compete for championship medals with these three monsters. It is unlikely that anything will change radically in the upcoming edition of La Liga. Therefore, the results of the Examples in the 2017/18 edition will most likely be similar to the results of the last edition of the tournament. The position of the teams in the final Primera División 2016/2017 table looked like this:

  1. "Real";
  2. "Barcelona";
  3. Atlético Madrid;
  4. "Seville";
  5. Villarreal;
  6. Real Sociedad;
  7. Atlético Bilbao;
