Spain la pineda. Shopping in La Pineda and what to bring

City of La Pineda in Spain

La Pineda (aka La Pineda, La Pineda) is a small town in the province of Tarragona, south of Barcelona. Recently, this resort has become more and more popular, especially since it directly borders Salou, which means that it is almost as convenient to get to Port Aventura from here.

The autonomous community is Catalonia, the number of residents is about 20 thousand people. There are many hotels in the city, which we recommend choosing first.

Hotels in La Pineda

First, in more detail about one of the standard hotels in La Pineda, Juncos De Pineda Park. The cost of living is about 80 euros per day for a double room. The hotel has free Wi-Fi, about 250 meters to the beach, its own outdoor swimming pool, a small garden, and a tennis court. The rooms are decorated simply, nothing superfluous, but everything you need. For children - their own swimming pool, their own playground. Wi-Fi works reliably in the lobby, but some are lucky in the rooms. Shops, supermarkets, bars are about 5 minutes on foot. The water park is 10 minutes away. Port Aventura is 5 minutes by bus, Reus airport is 10 km away, from there you can go to nearby cities.

Now you have an idea of what to expect from mid-priced Spanish hotels. We can pay attention to the best hotels in La Pineda in terms of price-quality ratio. Those. not the most luxurious and expensive ones, but those where guests are most satisfied with the money spent and time spent. First, of course, the popular “four” Palas Pineda. Many tour operators send there from Russia, and it is also available for independent booking. Guests appreciate the service and food. The 3* Golden Donaire Beach hotel is about the same level - located next to the beach, great location and excellent food. Both families with children and groups of friends love to relax here. Next most popular -

Of course, the 5-star Gran Palas Hotel also gets good reviews. It is located across the street from the beach, guests love literally everything! The “four” Terramarina has a slightly lower rating, but you also don’t have to walk far to the beach, so it is an excellent replacement for the expensive Gran Palas.

Do not forget that in many inexpensive hotels in La Pineda, places run out long before departure - start planning your vacation in advance.

Transport in La Pineda

La Pineda is well connected by transport links with neighboring towns (a couple of euros, regular Plana buses - and you are in Salou, Cambrils, Tarragona, Port Aventura) and Barcelona.

The capital of Catalonia is 100 km away, i.e. 1.5–2 hours journey. You can get to La Pineda from Barcelona Airport either by bus or by train. The price is approximately the same - about 10 euros, but a taxi will cost almost 150.

To get from Barcelona airport to La Pinda by train, you first need to get to Sants station (line R2 leaves from the second terminal of the airport, you can get to the first by a free bus), and from there - in the right direction. Transfers in Spain are simple. You can also use the Estacio de Franc station for transfers, but it will take longer.

Buses usually go to Tarragona and Salou - there are both from Barcelona itself and from the airport. Several flights a day from early morning in both directions until not very late in the evening are guaranteed to allow you to get to La Pineda without problems: buses from Tarragona and Salou to La Pineda run several times an hour during the daytime.

There is also a direct bus from Tarragona to Barcelona, but it will cost more. The time in Uti is about 2 hours, the first ones run from about 6-7 am, the last ones at 20-22 (depending on the season and day of the week). Buses arrive at the final square of Sant Joan.

If you're going to see the fountains, it's cheaper to take a tour or book a night in Barcelona than to pay a taxi (especially if you're alone or as a couple). The most spectacular part of the singing fountains is in the dark, and in the summer at this time it will be difficult to get to the Costa Dorada.

La Pineda on the map of Spain

As you can see, next to La Pineda there is Port Aventura Park and next to it is Aquatic Park (a wonderful water park, where you should definitely go for the whole day).

Don't forget to find information about the weather on the Costa Dorada by month in the "Weather" section.

Sights of La Pineda: what to see, recreation and reviews

La Pineda is considered a more expensive and fashionable resort than the neighboring youthful Salou, so the prices are appropriate. For example, let's take food.

At the Mediterranean restaurant Dorado ArroZeria the average bill is about 1,500 rubles, at the inexpensive Burger Casablanca cafe - about 700 rubles, at the Italian restaurant La Traviata - about 1,000 rubles. In general, it is, of course, more profitable to take tours with half board, full board or even all inclusive.

But there are many attractions that you can see for free! For example, a monument to pine trees. This unique sculpture symbolizes the main tree of the city. You can find it on the Paseo de Pau Casals boardwalk opposite the beach.

The promenade itself is also an attraction! On the one hand there are hotels, clubs, restaurants, on the other there are gorgeous beaches. It is safe to walk here not only during the day, but also at night, in the dark. The boulevard is well illuminated, it is almost always crowded, and in the evenings in the summer, entertainment venues open nearby.

Naturally, all vacationers on the Costa Dorada are recommended to see the Port Aventura park (it’s better to dedicate at least a day to this, from morning to evening, maybe two or three), as well as the Aquatic Park water parks (at Port Aventura) and Aquapolis. The latter is located very close to La Pineda, and there are very scary slides (“Kamikaze”, “Black Hole”), a swimming pool with artificial waves, an imitation of a mountain river, and a playground for children. The cost of visiting the water park is about 30 euros for a day ticket, and the slides inside are free.

History buffs will love the ancient town of Vila Seca, which was built during Roman times. There are ruins of buildings, ancient towers, a 16th century church, and a chapel.

Go to Tarragona (about 20-30 minutes) to look at the ancient amphitheater, and to Salou to admire the singing fountains, especially if you can’t get to Barcelona for the same.

Beaches of La Pineda

And, of course, enjoy the incredibly gorgeous beaches of La Pineda. The golden sand (which gives the name to the entire coast), very fine and clean, will appeal to both adults and children.

The main beach is called Playa de la Pineda. It is approximately 2.5 km long, perfectly equipped with everything necessary for relaxation, and includes a cafe and rentals. This is where everyone basically relaxes. Not far from the breakwater is another beach of La Pineda - Playa de El Prats, which is almost no different, so those who live nearby relax here. There are slightly fewer families with children on Playa del Raco, but there are opportunities for divers. Be sure to take the time to walk along the entire promenade, in both directions. It’s better, of course, in the evening, since you can easily burn during the day, even if you do it in spring or autumn.

La Pineda is a chic holiday destination with reasonable prices and beautiful beaches. They are all free and anyone can use them. If you need umbrellas and sun loungers, you will have to rent them; if not, it’s quite comfortable to lie on a towel. The entrance to the sea is quite shallow, swimming begins in June and ends in September (although our compatriots often swim during the May holidays, and end the season only in October).

We wish you a pleasant stay in La Pineda! Feedback and comments are welcome!

La Pineda stands out among the resorts of Spain's Gold Coast. This young resort town is most suitable for lovers of silence, leisurely or active sports holidays with children, as well as elderly people.

La Pineda on the map of Spain

The city of La Pineda (Spain) is located in the Catalan region near the city of Tarragona. It received its name in honor of the Mediterranean pines that previously grew in this territory (“el pino” - pine).

The history of La Pineda is directly connected with the nearby ancient city of Vila Seca. The Romans, Greeks, and Arabs lived on its territory for many centuries. La Pineda was considered the coastal area of the city.

Over time, Vila-seca and its surrounding areas became important ports from which many sailors departed on exploratory expeditions.

Vila-seca

In the 16th century, these territories were subject to pirate raids.

In the 19th century, Vila-seca and its districts became the center of agriculture in Catalonia. Subsequently, local residents began to develop tourism businesses here.

Today, the La Pineda resort is the most visited among Russian-speaking tourists.

Climate and weather in La Pineda

The city of La Pineda is surrounded by the Catalan and Pyrenees mountains, thanks to which it has a mild Mediterranean climate without sudden temperature changes.

The best period for vacation is July – September. The air temperature during this period reaches +28 – 30°C. The water warms up to +26°C. In August and September, occasional rain and thunderstorms are possible, but most often they occur at night. During the day the sky is cloudless with scorching sun.

Note! You can relax at the resort all year round, as the thermometer does not drop below +13°C.

The city's attractions

The resort of La Pineda, located on the Costa Dorada, is still “in its prime”. There are not a huge number of attractions here, but there are places worth visiting.

The most famous landmark and symbol of the resort in Spain is the metal installation “Pineda” (“Pines”) by designer Shaver Mariscal, located on the main street. It symbolizes the Mediterranean pines, after which the city itself is named.

Sculpture of Pineda

On the Rue Raval de la Mar is the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, built in the 13th century, which houses a stone relief of the Virgin Mary.

Not far from La Pineda in the ancient city of Vila Seca is the Iglesia de Sant Esteve church with its original bell tower, which was built in the 16th century.

Compensating for the small number of architectural monuments, the resort provides a lot of entertainment for active recreation.

Between La Pineda and Salou is the most famous amusement park in Spain - PortAventura World.

PortAventura World

It consists of three parks:

  • PortAventura Park;
  • Ferrari Land";
  • Caribe Aquatic Parc.

PortAventura Park is divided into 6 thematic zones, which are stylized to represent different historical civilizations. The park offers water rides, roller coasters, themed shows, a cafe, a cinema and attractions for the little ones (from 3 years old).

Caribe Aquatic Parc is a water park with free fall slides and wave pools.

Ferrari Land has a huge number of high-speed rides and racing tracks.

The Aquopolis La Pineda water park is also suitable for relaxing with the whole family. There are various water attractions, play areas, extreme slides and a dolphinarium. Shopping

La Pineda, although a resort town, is still provincial. There are no huge shopping centers here. Souvenirs can be purchased on the central street Passeig de Pau Casals, where there are many small shops and stalls, but for shopping for branded items and interior items, tourists go to Barcelona or Salou, which is only 30 km from La Pineda.

There are two large markets in Salou: Monday market - a clothing market that is open only on Mondays, and Mercado Bonavista, which is more like a fair for local goods and is open only on Sundays. There are also many branded stores of famous brands and retail chains.

Note! Throughout Spain, shopping centers and shops close for siesta (from 13:00 to 16:00), but grocery supermarkets may not close even on Sundays. Local residents prefer to buy groceries at the Michelangelo supermarket chain.

La Pineda is ideal for a family holiday, and no description of the attractions and nature can replace a personal visit. Here you can enjoy the weather, colorful scenery and traditional festivals throughout the year.

La Pineda is a small resort town located between the bustling resort of Salou and Tarragona, the oldest city in Spain, founded during Roman rule. Among most resorts in Catalonia, La Pineda is famous for its calm and romantic atmosphere, which is why this place has gained popularity among families vacationing with children, as well as young couples. Here you won’t find noisy crowds of tourists on the streets, and you can fully enjoy the silence and beauty of nature.

Nature and beaches of La Pineda

The area around La Pineda is famous for its lush Mediterranean vegetation. The city is literally surrounded by the greenery of fragrant pines with a characteristic flat spreading top. The name of the city comes from the Spanish “pino”, which means “pine tree”. Almost the entire coastline of the resort, the length of which is about three kilometers, is lined with coniferous trees.

Unlike other resort areas of the Costa Dorada, La Pineda does not have much diversity in the landscape of the coastal areas. The beach line is smooth and long, without rocky bays or cliffs. The beaches of La Pineda are one of the main calling cards of the surrounding areas of Barcelona. Anyone who has been to La Pineda knows about the cleanliness and amenities of the local beaches, which have been awarded the Blue Flag.

The entrance to the sea is gentle, convenient for small children, and the water is immaculately transparent, sparkling in the rays of the sun. They say these are particles of gold that glow. The sand in La Pineda is surprisingly clean and soft and has a pleasant golden hue. During the summer season, workers remove trash from the beach every day in the early morning hours.

The coastline of La Pineda borders Salou, where one of the most spacious beaches in the city begins - Playa del Raco, 80 m wide. From the southwest, the beach ends with a rocky spit, and on the eastern side it smoothly turns into Playa de la Pineda, sharply narrowing in width. Most of the hotels along Playa del Raco are located behind a moderately busy road. The only three-star Golden Donaire Beach Hotel is located directly on the beach. The hotel deserves special attention from tourists for its quality service and quite affordable prices for accommodation.

Raco Beach, like other beaches in La Pineda, is equipped with toilets, showers and facilities for people with disabilities. Along its entire length there is a pedestrian path with a bench stretching for almost 200 m.

Playa de la Pineda, bordering Playa del Raco, is the city's busiest and most popular beach. Along it are concentrated the bulk of hotels, apartment complexes located right on the shore, as well as summer cafes, restaurants, shops and souvenir pavilions.

Pines give this place a royal splendor. Their cluster in the very center of the beach forms the Pinar del Perruquet park, where benches and fountains are installed. This is an important landmark of La Pineda and hosts cultural and entertainment events in the evening. Children can play on a special large colorful playground, and in total there are four children's playgrounds in La Pineda.

What to see in La Pineda

One of the great advantages of the La Pineda resort is its proximity to the famous Port Aventura amusement park. If a trip to the world of entertainment from Barcelona takes at least an hour, then from La Pineda it takes no more than 15 minutes. You can get to the park either by buses, the route of which runs through the neighboring city of Salou, or by free tourist steam train. The locomotive departs for the park from the western end of the city. If you cannot find the locomotive stop, contact any hotel guide for help.

The main attraction of the city is the Aquopolis water park. Many water slides and attractions, eight swimming pools, a cafe, shady lawns and sunbathing areas covered with sand and grass, as well as a large dolphinarium are located on an area of more than one hundred thousand square meters. Be prepared for long queues for the attractions; the water park is very popular not only among guests of La Pineda, but also among tourists throughout the Costa Dorada, and can accommodate up to 3,000 people.

Another important attraction of La Pineda is Irones Pines - a huge metal installation symbolizing the “goddess” of local nature - the pine tree. Directly from it stretches the long promenade Pau Casals with many cafes, restaurants with a typical Mediterranean menu and Spanish paella, clothing boutiques and souvenir shops.

After midnight, Pau Casals becomes a concentration of nightlife: a few meters away there is the famous Pacha La Pineda nightclub - the largest on the Costa Dorada, as well as several cozy lounge bars with night discos and cozy outdoor terraces. The resort's nightlife area is called Pineda Drink.

Next door to La Pineda

Those who are drawn to architecture and want to get acquainted with Spanish modernism should go to the city of Reus. It is located just north of Salou and is one of the cities that are monuments to the art of Lluis Domènech i Montaner, the famous Catalan architect. There you can also get acquainted with the work of Antonio Gaudi. The city has a center dedicated to the life and works of the architectural genius.

Reus is a typical Spanish city with narrow streets filled with the spirit of antiquity and the smell of vermouth. It is interesting that Reus vermuteria are also known outside the city. Be sure to treat yourself to a glass of local strong drink. This can be done either in one of the cafes on the main city square of Prim (Plaça del Prim), where the statue of General Juan Prim, an important person in the history of Catalonia, majestically rises, or in cozy establishments away from the city center.

By the way, Prima Square is another attraction of Reus. It is surrounded by many historical sites, and the streets branching from it are the main shopping destination for tourists. The city has several small shopping centers, as well as many shoe stores and boutiques of famous brands: Zara, Oysho, Bershka, etc.

You can travel to Reus by bus from one of the many stops in the city. The one-way fare is about 3 euros.

Lovers of antiquities are recommended to visit Tarragona, a city whose history goes back to ancient times. The distance from La Pineda to Tarragona is only 10 km; you can get there by bus, which runs regularly through city bus stops.

Tourists who are not afraid of longer journeys can go to Barcelona.

There are two ways to get from La Pineda to Barcelona:

  • from the city of Salou. Electric trains and commuter trains depart regularly from Salou to Barcelona. You can get off at Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona Sants station or Estació de França. Train stops must be checked when purchasing tickets. Travel time is about 1.5 hours. Fare – from 9 euros;
  • from PortAventura park. Next to the park is the Port Aventura station. The Renfe train, line R16, departs from here to Barcelona. The final stop of the train is the French Station (Estació de França). You can get off at Barcelona Sants station, Passeig de Gràcia and Sant Andreu Comtal.

But, to be precise, the Pine Sculpture represents not one, but eight trees with a height of 20 to 25 meters, the first 4 were installed in March 1999, the remaining 4 in July 2008. The trunk and branches of Mariscal pine trees are made of steel, and the tops, which are huge openwork metal saucers, are made of copper. The total weight of the sculpture group is about 130 tons. What to see in La Pineda

Since La Pineda is very young, there are no historical or cultural attractions in the city itself. The main local attraction of “Pines” is a metal installation by Javier Mariscal. This decorative element of the main street, surrounded by palm trees, has already become a recognizable calling card of the resort. To enjoy the legends of antiquity, it is enough to take a short excursion to the neighboring ancient city of Vila Seca. It was founded by the Romans. The main attraction is the antique buildings that fit perfectly into the peaceful resort landscapes. The medieval towers and the parish church of Iglesia de Sant Esteve, built in the 16th century, are perfectly preserved. Its original bell tower is still in use. Of interest is the castle built around an ancient tower. The elegant chapel with a magnificent altar made in the Baroque style is noteworthy. Between Salou and Port Aventura, a cultural monument from the 14th century has been preserved - this is the square-shaped tower of Torre d'En Dolce. Two authentic walls have survived to this day, the other two are the result of reconstruction.

Things to do

The main attraction in La Pineda is the Aquopolis park, which occupies 11 hectares. On its territory you can play mini golf, ride water slides and other attractions. Children enjoy water shows with dolphins and entertainment in a specially designated play area with a shallow pool. The most famous attractions of the water park: a downhill slide in a closed pipe “Black Hole”; three-tier slide "Aquamania"; "Kamikaze" slide. A tourist train runs from Aquopolis to the Port Aventura amusement park, and you can also take it to Salou. Sports lovers will appreciate the huge EuroSport sports complex, equipped with modern exercise machines and other specialized equipment. The beaches of La Pineda have all the conditions for water sports. Equipment for diving and windsurfing is available for rent, and highly qualified instructors work (for beginners and experienced amateurs). The best place for the promenade is the Paseo de Pau Casals embankment, planted with tall, spreading palm trees. This is the longest Catalan promenade, with a length of 2.5 km. It is on Paseo de Pau Casals that folk festivals, children's shows, street performances and festivals are held. But the main advantage of La Pineda is, first of all, its beaches marked with a blue flag. Vacationers in La Pineda are offered a wide range of excursion programs. It is worth visiting Montserrat, Barcelona, Salou, Figueres and Reus.
